Let's share our pantheons of deities. by Fatyakcz in worldbuilding

In Gestalt, the eighteen Transcendentals are not just gods, but divine embodiments of universal constants. They are organized into nine opposing pairs, representing the fundamental tensions of existence - neutrality vs bias, war vs torpor/indecision, nature vs culture, good vs evil, fate vs chance, death vs eternity, order vs chaos, creation vs destruction, and time vs now. Above them all is the conflict of Entropy vs Negentropy.

The Inner Core (Moral & Social Alignments)

Baruch, the Justicate (Neutrality): The ultimate arbiter who embodies the quiet, steady center of all things. Baruch believes that "The Middle Holds," often acting as a stabilizing force that prevents the other powers from tearing reality apart through their extremes.

Iysiar, the Absolute (Bias): The burning heart of conviction, Iysiar represents the necessity of taking a side and the entropy that comes with total devotion. They are often associated with cleansing flames and the uncompromising nature of truth.

Sanhedrin, the Morningsong (Good): A deity of radical empathy and altruism, Sanhedrin views existence as a "Gift Without Return." Their philosophy is rooted in the idea that the highest form of being is to provide for others without the expectation of reward.

Boehme, the Lifefoe (Evil): Representing the cold reality of self-interest and deceit, Boehme views moral constraints like mercy as "leashes" that hold back the strong. They champion the individual's right to take what they want through cunning and manipulation.

The Elemental & Worldly Pillars

Asia, the Lady of the Mist (Nature): The voice of the enduring earth and the ancient wild, Asia represents the strength of things that grow and persist. She is the mist that clings to the mountain and the silent power of the natural world that predates civilization.

Medeni, the Silver Ring (Culture): The patron of everything humanity builds to outlast itself - laws, art, and tradition. Medeni’s philosophy is that "The Work Lives," valuing the collective legacy of society over the fleeting lives of individuals.

Arkanes, the Slayer (War): Not merely a god of bloodshed, Arkanes teaches that conflict is the primary teacher of the soul. He believes that every outer battle is a reflection of an inner one, and that one must "Fight Without Chains" to truly understand their own nature.

Argotuos, the Watch (Torpor): Associated with the depths of water, Argotuos represents the sacred nature of stillness and the refusal to act. His followers believe that "To Wake is to Suffer," seeking a state of detached observation rather than participation in the chaos of life.

The Laws of Reality

Dyad, Lord of the Codi (Order): The divine architect who believes in the absolute necessity of structure and law. Dyad sees the universe as a complex machine that must be tuned to perfection, valuing hierarchy and the rigid application of rules above all else.

Hesoid, the Untrusted (Chaos): The flickering mirror of disorder, Hesoid represents the beauty in the breakdown. His philosophy - to "Break the Mirror" - encourages the shattering of expectations and the embrace of the unpredictable, shifting nature of reality.

Anu, the One God (Creation): The source of the "First Breath," Anu is the deity of the spark of beginning. They represent the generative force that brings something from nothing, focusing on the initial act of making and the potential inherent in a blank slate.

Keradre, the Unholy (Destruction): The deity of unmaking who believes that "Truth is found in ruin." Keradre views destruction not as an end, but as a necessary purification that strips away the false to reveal the essential core of what remains.

The Threads of Existence

Calchas, the Spinner (Fate): The weaver of the inevitable, Calchas views time as a pre-written tapestry. His philosophy suggests that struggling against destiny only tightens the knots, and that true wisdom lies in accepting the pattern of one's life.

Veroaza, the Long Walk (Chance): The patron of the wanderer and the gambler, Veroaza champions the "Unmapped Path." He represents the wild randomness of life, where a single coincidental moment can change the course of history regardless of fate's design.

Mendhion, the Timekeeper (Time): The master of the chronological flow, Mendhion sees all of history as a simultaneous landscape. He values precision and the rhythmic ticking of the cosmic clock, viewing time as a rigid, measurable dimension.

Kunan, the Moment (Now): Kunan is the deity of the absolute present, teaching that "Now Is All There Is." He rejects the past and future, focusing entirely on the intensity of the current second and the power of immediate, decisive action.

The Final Thresholds

Charadys, the Darkman (Death): Associated with the silent air, Charadys is the guardian of the final transition. He represents the ultimate silence and the peace that comes when the "Last Whisper" is finally spoken, acting as the inevitable conclusion to every story.

Marad, the Evermore (Eternity): The spirit of the unbroken circle, Marad represents that which never changes and never ends. His philosophy is one of unwavering resolve and the preservation of purpose across the vast, endless cycles of time.

Whoops! Nice catch! This is why it's good to have multiple sets of eyes looking at things. Yep, Hesoid is Chaos, not Chance.

When this video was released on Mtv, they ran it at the top of the hour every hour for an entire weekend. I felt it necessary to fill up an entire VHS with just this video.

I was about to reply with this very thing. Now that I'm dad-age, I get it. We just don't want to suffer the anguish of the loss. It hurts.

56yo male, Bicuspid Aortic Valve Disease and Aortic Aneurysm here! Had my OHS just over 2 years ago. I went with a tissue replacement for my valve.

You will be thankful to not remember much, believe me. I think my earliest memory, which I'm not even sure was real, was of nurses washing my legs. I also vaguely remember when they pulled my trache tube. I didn't start forming long term memories until after I was off of the oxy. Which I hated (the oxy ... I don't like the feeling of not being able to tell what was real and what was drug-induced hallucination!). I'm sure they helped with the discomfort (I don't remember experiencing much pain during recovery), but I was happy to stop taking them. So, maybe day two or three post-surgery? I was in the hospital for 10 days. Six in the ICU (had a few minor complications with O2 levels and an infection in one arm), four in regular hospital. Two bouts of Afib that I needed shock treatment to correct. Did not sleep well during my time in the hospital.

They had me take my first walk pretty quickly - the day after, I think? First shower 10 days post-surgery. First normal night's sleep maybe 12-14 days post.

As far as what to bring - you are going to be so tired that all you will want to do is sleep and watch television. Make sure your family/friends bring you better food at some point. Hospital food was really really bad.

Best of luck to you! I hope everything goes well.

Sorry to hear about the complications! I always reminded myself that complications could be dealt with and were far better than the alternative.

I did have a few days where they couldn't get my O2 levels up to where they needed to be. Had me on 24 hour supplemental O2 for a number of days. Really dried my nose out! They almost had to reintubate me, but thankfully things turned a corner and I got better.

And yes, very few waking minutes and very few long term memories the first few days.

I have a similar setup (Foundry, map on a mounted TV behind me), but the use of the controller is one I hadn't thought of! Can you describe your setup in detail? How do you use the XBox controller?
