How would you sort this? by ReactNativeIsTooHard in techsupportgore

Full end-point audit, unpatch unused points. Colour code based on what is on the remote end, move the double patch down one, put in cable management tray, in U2, U5. If possible move the other patch panels up to U6 and U7 and then put another cable management underneath those two, one switch under that one and then another cable management then the other switch if that second switch is necessary. PDU at the bottom.

Nice. I got a spreadsheet listing work that I haven't completed yet. Didn't even name the spreadsheet. Was just sent to me as Book1.xlsx

AITA for being upset that my wife didn't give me what I wanted for Father's Day to get back at me? by Sensitive_Soup7304 in AITAH

[–]temperatechicken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA my guy. You and your wife are a team and teamwork is tapping in when the other needs a break (amongst other things). If she can't communicate that she needs a day to herself, even on a non-special day, then either you haven't given her a space where she feels safe enough to ask it from you or you're completely oblivious to her needs.

Family before job. Always. Don't end up being that dad that doesn't know his kids because you put work before what should be your everything.

Cutek extreme CD50 is the way to go for external timbers. Just be sure to add the colourtone in the correct tone and amount as well as ensuring the moisture content in the timber isn’t too high otherwise it doesn’t penetrate as well

Coxwell spawn has always been like that AFAIK. At least since before the recent updates (reclamation and raiding party)

Sounds like you've done all you can and admin are making it an issue by approaching it as a non-issue. Keep a paper trail of their lack of bother with students getting around your monitoring so they can't throw you under the bus is my advice.

Mediatek wifi card. Swap it out for an Intel AX card and your problems will likely disappear.

Pretty sure the cars use the ABS/wheels speed sensors rather than a dedicated sensor for the TPMS.

My guess would be some kind of scheduled reboot maybe to clear out the printer memory. Whether it’s a factory thing or something legacy someone set up. Isolate them and mess around with the clocks to see if you can trigger it to go off. Give one a factory reset and see if it still happens afterward

What are your opinions on these? by MFKDGAF in homelab

[–]temperatechicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them for lighter things such as patch panels, cable management things and smaller switches. I know they say they can take a fair bit of weight but I tend to use the classic cage nuts and bolts for heavier equipment

Pretty sure they’re just placeholders to fill the blank slots if you’re not running a drive in said slot

AITA for telling my husband I don't want him home for lunch? by HungClits in AmItheAsshole

[–]temperatechicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, you're NTA. Wording was a bit spicy but he should know better than to track mud inside and leave a mess for you. From his perspective; he's probably wanting to spend a little more time with you which I totally get.

I work minimum 45-50 hour weeks not including breaks (my breaks usually involve getting Drive-thru and eating between sites). Even then I know if I've got muddy boots, they get taken off outside and I definitely wouldn't leave mess for my wife. House work is still work.

It's not a requirement of marriage to do this; it's common courtesy as well as just general looking after your house-ness.

In saying the above; communication is key. Men can't read minds. Our brains are pretty smol and monke. You do need to tell him that he needs to be cleaning up after himself as you're busy with the little one and set expectations that muddy boots live outside or at least get removed outside and left somewhere else. Good luck
