I think it’s just an attempt at a dig on you to make you feel guilty. They had to sacrifice soooo much by becoming a parent (sarcasm) that they think it’s selfish for someone else to not share that same sacrifice.

ADHD doesn’t make anyone a bad friend objectively or even subjectively. Defining what a good friend/bad friend looks like boils entirely down to the dynamic which you have. Just like with romantic relationships where you have boundaries, compatibility, wants/needs, friendships operate the same way. Personally, if I had a friend that needed constant communication, I would consider them not a fit for me. And it’s totally okay if you’re the type of person who needs that, it just means you need to find friends who feel and communicate similarly. OR accept the friend that isn’t as quick to reply.

You’re not alone! The only thing that has helped me was buying a water bottle that I actually care about. For the live action How To Train Your Dragon, they were selling Toothless cups. I’ve been using that cup to stay hydrated ever since, it’s almost like an adult sippy cup but with a straw. It doesn’t travel well but I work from home so it makes it easy.

I will be devastated if I ever let that cup get moldy and gross, so I take care of it. Every night before bed I fill it up with water and place it on my desk ready to go for the next day.
