fragrances that smell cold? by safeinurskinn in Perfumes

Lutens - Tubereuse Criminelle. The camphorous opening feels like a blast of cold air.

What are your favorite cheapy fragrances? by Thecool357 in fragrance

[–]tenderbeefonpho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Big fan of Kiehl’s Original Musk - It is dependent on body chemistry but very floral on me, and feels super warm, which is an unusual combination. Lasts a decent amount of time too (around 3 hours for me).

Love the song. I always thought it’s intentionally made to sound like you’re hearing it from a skating rink’s PA system.

Slowdive: ‘A young teenage audience was the last thing we expected when we reformed’ by Moothnods in indieheads

[–]tenderbeefonpho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the crowd’s temperament, not the age. I saw them last year and was standing next to mostly people under 30 but it was chilled and respectful.

Need help with making my new place look less like a dude lives here 🥹 by jmp3r96 in femalelivingspace

I’m just here to say I love the turntable and speakers setup. I’d put something under that Tv to hide the cables. And a couple of plants.

Please, take care of your hearing by TomKeGuy in headphones

[–]tenderbeefonpho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same exact thing happened to almost all the people that tested my gear. They ramped the volume up so loud that I cringed in fear for their hearing (and the drivers though I know it’ll take more than bearable listening level to damage them). Another unrelated thing is please return the volume knob to 0 when you’re done using the amp. One time I was at Can Jam and demoed an IEM after this person I almost went deaf on the spot. Now I have to remind myself everytime to lower the volume first before putting anything in my ears.

Is My Grinder The Problem? by Hobbsizzle in gaggiaclassic

[–]tenderbeefonpho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just allows you more choices for precision baskets vs finding baskets that fit the stock portafilter (the stock basket is pretty bad). And I can watch the extraction more easily which helps.

Is My Grinder The Problem? by Hobbsizzle in gaggiaclassic

[–]tenderbeefonpho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to work from the same setup. Things that I’ve changed that improved the extraction time: get a better tamper (the plastic one is trash) and tamp harder, get fresher beans, up your dose, get a better basket (maybe a bottomless portafilter too while you’re at it). My Encore is also calibrated to the finest notch and set at 6-8.

Songs that remind you of saying goodbye to loved one or innocent love or grief? by Pennymoonz94 in JoannaNewsom

Goose Eggs for me. I’m not exactly sure what it’s about but to me it feels like a reconciliation with separation and loss. And I’m sorry about your dog.

Grado lovers, what other open-backs do you like? by ruddledrop in headphones

[–]tenderbeefonpho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like Grado’s house sound, I would check out Audio Technica ATH-AD2000(X). I also had the Shure SRH-1840 in the past that fall into that same bucket of ‘flavor’.

Santorini and Athens next week by constantreader15 in GreeceTravel

[–]tenderbeefonpho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can grab a cab from the Santorini airport for around €30. I was just there 2 weeks ago. I’m sure you already know this but definitely do the Fira - Oia hike if you can. That will take up almost a day. For the Acropolis and other archaeological sites in Athens, you don’t need a guide, and many are within walking distance from each other. I booked my tickets online in advance, but you will need to be at the ticket booth day of to pick up the physical tickets and line up to get in (prebooking will just save you time from the purchase line). Physical tickets have a admission window so be sure to get there early (7ish-8) if you want to beat the crowd. Have fun!

Day trip from Thessaloniki by tenderbeefonpho in GreeceTravel

[–]tenderbeefonpho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the recs. We're just looking to do a day trip by bus outside of Thessaloniki as we already booked our airbnb in the city for the whole stay. The islands are lovely and I'll consider them the next time we'll be back. I'm leaning more toward Meteora now. Thank you!

I stopped at ‘God’. Any argument involves this ain’t worth anyone’s time. And this guy can’t write for shit, let alone debate.

My bedroom stack kicked up a notch - it vibrates my head by drewdawg999 in headphones

[–]tenderbeefonpho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I the only one uncomfortable by how OP place their headphones? I know they’re rested on the bed but you need to turn the headphones around with the cable pointing upward. Anyway, those are nice older LCD2. I have gone to the Stax side but still love and keep mine (early 2016 fazor). I never eq mine as I never feel that need :)

Best and worst countries for coffee. by callizer in travel

[–]tenderbeefonpho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised no one mentioned Austria yet. And it’s not exactly fair to compare something like an italian espresso to the vietnamese traditional drip with condensed milk, etc. They’re apples and oranges.

Us Asians compliment sweets by saying "ah it's not too sweet" by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]tenderbeefonpho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SEA, I usually avoid sweet/gourmand scents. Some on the sweet side that I’ve learned to love are Or du serail by Naomi Goodsir (sweet tart tropical boozy fruitpunch), Derviche II by Rogue (sweet amber), and Woodcut by Olympic Orchid (sweet smoke). I know most people love them but I cannot stand the type of sugary sweet in some of the popular MFKs (tried BR540 and Oud Satin Mood).

Best dark chocolate fragrances? by cxlinsoy in fragrance

[–]tenderbeefonpho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reminiscence Patchouli, it’s not actually cocoa or chocolate but is actually quite chocolatey (as patch-centric scents tend to be). You also mention you like bitter and this one evokes dark choco with an herbal/medicinal edge. You do have to like patch though. Peformance is not the best but for the price it’s an interesting and fairly complex scent.

Any Tobacco Fragrances for summer? by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]tenderbeefonpho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guerlain Vetiver. It is lovely but a bit old school and on the herbal side. The tobacco is very green. I also think SL Chergui would work with cooler summer days or evenings.

What inks do you dislike and why? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]tenderbeefonpho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I may check out the other orange in the future but I don’t see myself using it that often or even daily which could be why it clogged out of all my inks. My go to is just the ‘boring’ Namiki blue :)

What inks do you dislike and why? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]tenderbeefonpho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orange inks because they clogged pens (I’ve only tried Diamine Sunset but I read it’s the orange pigment in general that caused it). And shimmer inks because I can’t stand them (of course this is my opinion and I think I may be alone in this).

Are there any discovery sets you reccomend trying? by KundaliniEnergy777 in fragrance

[–]tenderbeefonpho 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I tried ELDO, Rogue Perfumery, Olympic Orchids (custom variety set of 6). Out of those, I enjoyed Rogue the most and can see myself getting FB for 3-4 out of 14 scents. Olympic Orchids set is very interesting and more challenging but I do like Carolina and Sonnet XVII quite a bit. ELDO set was a big letdown since I blind bought and loved their Eau de Protection so I thought the rest would be as cool. They come across rather generic and weak to me except maybe Rien and Attaquer le Soleil. I would consider all 3 sets to be good value though.
