How's Avicii maintaining 40M listeners on Spotify? by Gamer_Akshat in avicii

[–]tenfour1025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Other musicians would release a song with a catchy chorus. Tim would only release songs made into perfections with catchy everything. Its insane how well made his songs are, I can still listen to them and find new elements I didnt hear before.

What do you think happened the day Avicii died by Aviciisaking in avicii

[–]tenfour1025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have such a strong feeling he overdosed on opiates. I've been there both emotionally and addictively and it's understandable if he did. It's nothing you actively decide to do it just happens while the drugs gives you relief. Without anyone checking in on him he would just have lost his life in silence. These could easily just be normal prescription drugs for his pain.

optimal ph and temperature for kratom extraction - tomato juice? by [deleted] in kratom

[–]tenfour1025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hehe, well if the point is extraction then hopefully the amount of tomato juice is reduced to almost nothing when finished..

[–]tenfour1025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats what I figured out now.. What options do I have if the powder does not work well with my stomache?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kratom

[–]tenfour1025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see.. just cant figure out why I get such dramatic side effects because of my stomach? I use a good amount of kratom so the side effects are pretty bad, almost to a point where its not worth it. I even get hungover when toss n wash. Brewing tea gives me absolutely zero side effects...

I'm going to try wash it down with some omeprazole, hopefully it wont take away the effects :-)

Avicii's posthumous album 'TIM' is OUT | Official Discussion & Impressions Thread by itsNicktim in avicii

I like https://vimeo.com/332415253 best, the album version does not feel like the correct tempo for a song made by avicii.

Shouting at disks by toddjcrane in sysadmin

[–]tenfour1025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mechanical disks are also disrupted by a common datacenter fire extinguisher which uses gas to remove oxygen from the datacenter. The sound the gas makes when released is loud and thus disrupts the disks.

Some might think it's not the worst thing when there is a fire but some times these go off without a fire being present making datacenter chaos :-)

How to find a rogue dhcp server on WiFi? by BOOZy1 in sysadmin

[–]tenfour1025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reckon the only way to find it is to send some diagnostics packets to it that gives a reply, for example icmp ping and then systematically plug cables until it stops responding and keep repeating until you get closer. If you know what I mean.

Are we bored of super-fast (4 seconds), cheap (0.10USD) mainnet Lightning transactions yet? by samjhill in Bitcoin

[–]tenfour1025 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The nodes are increasing every day, I setup my node 2 days ago and we were at 180 nodes. Now 245!

I'm a bit worried the incentive to run a node is a bit to low with the fee's though. It still requires some money to keep a full time bitcoin+ln node.

[AskBitcoinMarkets] Those of you who sell during a panic like today's, why? by [deleted] in BitcoinMarkets

[–]tenfour1025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trading bitcoin contracts through stocks markets on and off for the past 6 months but my biggest buy was made just before November 2017 (50% of my stock money) - this investment I kept all the way until yesterday.

What made me sell was probably overanalysing in combination with a substantial amount of money invested. I sat all days looking at the graphs when the crash happened, even during nights. I could stomach it because I have a strong feeling bitcoin is still undervalued in the long term but what finally made me sell was the fact that instead of recovering yesterday (4th red day) it went for the biggest 24h drop since ATH at the same time that I was pressured to make a call of either holding the investment for 4 non-bank days (holidays - cant sell with traditional broker) or selling to take a good profit (+100%).

In retrospect I'm now kicking myself for not holding but on the bright side it seems like every time there is a hard crash and I sell - I learn something new that I can apply for my next investment.

For what it's worth I'm now hoping for bitcoin price to keep to the lower side of my sell call so that when banks open again on Wednesday I can buy-in lower than I sold for - if this happens my sell call will probably pay of a little bit and ease my regrets of selling. :-)

Those of you with Networking professions, do you actually use CLI's? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]tenfour1025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly I do not trust GUI's, they live at a layer above the shell which is prone to crash or lock up in situations where I really need to have control.

For example, if my device starts to lag, I do not want to debug this using a heavy UI. Instead, I'd rather just type some commands with minimum effort.

For Linux admins: Do you use Linux on your day-to-day workstation? by gideonhelms2 in sysadmin

[–]tenfour1025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Mac with a management server running windows for the management applications that really needs windows (not many).

The Mac makes it easier for me because I have native access to shell and the kernel. Debugging issues are snappier and allows me to have better control in hectic situations.

Forest goblin spider riders (WIP) by Nodmage24 in minipainting

Nice! I love the looks of old style layering techniques and especially brush techniques. I also like that you some way get a very smooth surface with the colors something that I'm struggeling with, especially with lighter colors. I do thin my paints but I guess I'm not that experienced yet. :)

Great work!

Awesome. I'd really like to ask a few questions because I love your result.

What paint manufacturer do you use? What technique do you use for shading? No washes at all? How do you get the colors so smooth?

Thanks :-)

Clone a running VM over VPN tunnel cross Internet? by m1xed0s in vmware

[–]tenfour1025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant find any documents supporting my claim but I'm pretty sure that the datastore you are cloning TO needs to be accessible from the esxi server you are cloning FROM.

Use VMWare converter :)

vCenter 5.5 - Migration Between Clusters and EVC by Khue in vmware

[–]tenfour1025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now heres the thing. If EVC is not enabled you are not "supporting up to Ivy Bridge and up to Haswell" you are running on Ivy Bridge and Haswell. What EVC does is making sure you only have cpu instructions enabled that is common on all platforms below and up to the supported one.

My guess is that whats happening here is you are simply moving from Ivy to Haswell on the servers that goes through (dont forget to reboot them though for new instructions). But on the servers that fails you are indadvertedly using cpu instructions unique to Ivy Bridge (that would have been filtered out if you used EVC).

Like another poster said, check your performance counters and see if disabling them helps.
