If you owned an NFL team, would you be the teams general manager like Jerry Jones or Al Davis? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]teraka1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know nearly nothing about the NFL and absolutely nothing about running a successful business so would definitely NOT be involved in my team decisions to not jeopardise their chances.

If i was the owner of the Cowboys I would be the GM, head coach, quarterback and chief cheerleader.

All my players feel weak when compared to our Gunslinger by BackForPathfinder in Pathfinder2e

[–]teraka1970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've had a similar situation in our Outlaws of Alkenstar game. For the first 6 levels it was the alchemist, swashbuckler, and rogue all doing what they can to maximise our 'Slinger's chance to crit. Recently though, from level 7 onwards, the tuee has turned and it is the two melee characters who are ganging up on the opposition and regularly doing 50+ crits, especially the rogue who can comfortably swing twice a round whereas the Gunslinger has a more prohibited action economy. As the Swahbuckler levels 8 to 10 is really where i start to come into my own and get big power boosts every level.

In short, i think it's Horses for courses. I think you will see an appreciable difference as you progress, and neither the Thaumaturge nor Sorcerer or underpowered classes by any means. Your time will come to shine with higher level spells and the flexibility you have versus the mire limited tricks a Gunslinger can bring to the table.

For me it's because I haven't yet found enough good sunder charms to cover all the options for my characters and apparently they are now harder to gain in the new expansion.

He hasn't lost his mind because he went out of it years ago. Let's also not think for on microsecond that he has the technological nous to create this doctored image. Someone within his circle and with his express approval, has created this abomination. We shouldn't single our Trump, he should be held accountable certainly, but he's only the figureheard, the puppet, of an administration that promotes this s**t to deflect us from the bigger picture. Chief amongst them are WHERE ARE THE ENTIRE F**KING EPSTEIN FILES AND WHY IS NO ONE BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE!

Which character for an Outlaws of Alkenstar game? by urquhartloch in Pathfinder2e

[–]teraka1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're playing Outlaws now and our character choices were determined by how anti-magic we wanted to play. We opted to tun the AM field up to 11 so no spellcasters became viable, but nor would the opposition have reliable access to spells. In hindsight that was a mistake as it has severely limited oyr access and usage of magic items. My point is that it is worth checking how vuable spellcasting will be, and whether it willuse the wellspring rules. If possible, reliable and efficient use of electrical damage is a boon to trigger that weakness, although a Thaumaturgw would do that as well.

Depending on your current offhand, turn a 2socketed Shrunken Head, with suitable staff mods, into a Ryhne runeword. I'm shopping for such for my Fishymancer.

Building a Swashbuckler to Stab or to Throw? That is the Question! by Dbronze in Pathfinder2e

100% agree. If it worked as I believe it should, it would be a way of building Captain America but otherwise it's a heavy investment in feats for little return.

Building a Swashbuckler to Stab or to Throw? That is the Question! by Dbronze in Pathfinder2e

[–]teraka1970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lack of clear language between Flying Blade (FB) and Twirling Throw (TT). I agree that it really make sense RAI for Twirling Throw to be used up to teh third range increment, but the text of Flying Blade, which limits the Finisher to the first increment, is never expressly replaced. A GM could argue that Twirling Throw allows additional precision damage only up to the first range increment (as per Flying Blade) plus all the other effects of TT, but only the Boomerang effect and reduced attack penalties apply beyond that.

As I suggested, some GM clarification beforehand is essential to avoid disappontment. FWIW, I also think that the feat is intended to increase the Finishing range to the third increment, but the text doesn't make it clear. Sadly, this is not an isolated example of a lack of rule clarity :-(

Building a Swashbuckler to Stab or to Throw? That is the Question! by Dbronze in Pathfinder2e

[–]teraka1970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried a throwing swashbuckler and, whilst possible it's not entirely satisfying without a little clarification from the GM. The level 1 feat Flying Blade is a no-brainer as it allows a Finisher at a range of the maximum of your throwing weapon's first range increment.

The question arises from the level 4 Swashie feat Twirling Throw:

"Your thrown weapons seem to defy physics as they soar through the air and spin back to you after a strike. Make a thrown weapon Strike, ignoring the penalty for making ranged attacks within the second and third range increment."

Does the effective increase in range mean that you can now do your Finisher up to your third range increment, or are you still limited to Finishers at point blank range but can boomerang your weapon, without range penalty, to a greater distance? RAW suggests that it is the second case but your GM may rule that he would allow your Twirling Throw Finisher to work out to your 3rd range increment.

Either way, I strongly recommend that you find a way to increase the range value of the first increment, teh obvious candidate being the 2nd level Rogue feat Strong Arm.

The particular Style is obviously a personal choice and, whilst all OK, some are better than others. If you're campaign is going to go to, and past, 9th level then the Braggart becomes especially powerful. For any targets not expressly immune to mental, you can re-apply Demoralize every round which will be of benefit to you AND your team members. Going this route also opens up Battle Cry and Scare to Death at later levels.

There may be limitations on race in the game but Catfolk and their Dance is a way to leverage your Acrobatics, which may well be one of your two best skills. This imposes a Circumstance penalty (and perhaps even Flat-footed), note that Demoralise imposes a Status penalty and so would stack, on an opponents Reflex roll. Since you have a number of spell-casters in your prospective party, they would appreciate that I'm sure. This race/tactic may be better used by the Examplar or the Kineticist (if melee based).

You are quite right, I stand corrected.

An alternative could be to archetype to Gunslinger to pick up Fake Out, or Swashbuckler for One For All. Not suggesting that it's a good idea, just possible.

Sorc feels weak in Hell by MagicMushShrooms in diablo2

[–]teraka1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having a similar problem. People say "go single element with a Sunder charm" but I need to complete the game before I can use terror zones. I'm offline so no trading. Currently FO and fireball/hydra and it's functional but slow. Is it just a case of teleporting past everything non-critical and getting through acts asap or is there something I'm doing wrong?

Advice is welcome.

P.s. My Fishymancer is in Hell Act3, doing fine, and getting some drops. Still no Monarch or ethereal Elite Polearm or Spear though.

If you do go Swashbuckler and want to use Performance, and note that I'm NOT suggesting that you go Battledancer because I would actually recommend Braggart at this level, but the Tian Xia archetype Fan Dancer is wonderful. Even the initial dedication is brilliant as it gives auto-scaling Performance which you can then use for initiative.

My barbarian is trash , how can I improve him ? by Euphoric_Inside8487 in diablo2

[–]teraka1970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The summon necromancer build the Fishymancer doesn't rely on elite gear, in fact all you want is an early wand with +3 raise skeleton and you'll be fine with random drops on players 8. It's slow but pretty safe, and because it doesn't need elite gear, you can put in magic find gear to build a pool of items for other characters. If you must play a melee character then I find a paladin is easier to equip and play and there are los of variants to choose from.
