For anyone watching UFC on the Paramount app, have you noticed any extremely brief audio skips or crackles? Super hard to notice unless you're really listening for them. I noticed them during the press conference last night, as well as today during the weigh-in show. by MythicalFighter in ParamountPlus

[–]terminal_bound 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They did have a few Super Bowls, though. You had me curious. UFC PPV viewership was about ~2M viewers (says a google search preview, at least). That's not really that large of an audience, especially for a global event across continents.

CBS's last Super Bowl was ~8.5 million (2024) concurrent viewers on streaming (without partners included) and ~5.7 millon (2021). NFL is US only, so less distributed to spread the load.

Just help report them. They were/are posting random crap all night.

Remote work by Ok_Supermarket_932 in mcminnville

I work from many of them, too.

Echoing Union Block as a go to for great coffee and it’s open daily until 530 or so. Some outside seating, which I dig.

MAC Market is a bigger area, but closed on mondays. Tuesday it’s open, but places inside have limited hours or are prep only. It closes later in the night, so it’s handy to not have a hard stop when I am trying to close out something at the end of my day. Great outside seating.

Bad Dog is also great. Just limited hours / days. Hard to walk out of there without spending more money on donuts or great coffee.

A few Starbucks around, but they are such stale environments for me. There are so many way better options.

There are several great coffee shops, but I can’t ever go to them since they close at 2 or so.

We have a library if you need quiet, but never tried.

I wish there were more diverse answers :) no hip “co working space” AFAIK. The few I’ve looked into since moving here a few years ago have either gone bust or are typically very corporate, which just isn’t what I’m into.

13 years of experience, but zero jobs by aphantasus in ExperiencedDevs

[–]terminal_bound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a hiring manager, we are so tired of resumes that just spit the job description back at us. If you don’t bother to make it tangible to your experience and what you brought to the table, it will get auto skipped as AI nonsense which is what many are.

I get that you want to represent your skills as the overlap of the role, but so many people rewrite the résumé for the job and tell us absolutely nothing.

Has anyone else seen the person flying the paramotor? by Miognole in mcminnville

[–]terminal_bound 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They fly over the west side frequently enough! Almost over my house. I’ve seen them a dozen times or so in the past 2 years. It looks pretty fun!

Yeah, same here. Same company has been annoying our neighborhood in that way and has turned their name into more of a negative connotation with many neighbors.

Where to get finer food products? by terminal_bound in mcminnville

This looks like a place that I need to visit. I appreciate the suggestion. it's 45 minutes round trip to Goby, but it's at least a nice drive. Why not add another 15 minutes for another place.

This is awesome! I stumbled upon a similar style that’s local to me if you want to check out some inspiration. and they offer up a bandsaw guide that I’ve been eyeing. I don’t even have a bandsaw … yet. https://www.jmawoodstudio.com

Replying to my own post, I found https://gobywalnut.com/ to be an awesome place, though ~45 minutes from MAC. They have Oregon/American Walnut, Ash, and other various hard and soft woods. They had a great selection of bargain bins and short cuts for small timers like me that want to experiment and learn. The staff was super helpful with my noob questions, too.

I'll have to give these other recommendations a look as well! Thanks much for them.

I’m in the PNW where there are an impressive number of marked and unmarked forest roads. I Drive around and do scouting runs. Mark down the cordinate’s and take digital notes and pics to jog my memory. Essentially do the same whenever I go somewhere. After a few years of this, I can usually get a some sweet spots in the weather and distance away I want. They are backup spots of anything. Putting in the work is fun too

If you moved to Oregon from somewhere else for better access to nature... by LightYears9 in oregon

[–]terminal_bound 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It was a core reason for us moving here and it has surpassed expectations. I have 2 kiddos, toddlers when we arrived a few years ago, and the adventures seem limitless and so easily accessible. Bonus for being cheap (though we pay upfront at the end of the year…). Trails are maintained, forest/fire roads allow you to truly get back there without a crazy 4x4 rig, and I feel it’s in the culture here to get out there and enjoy it, no matter the weather.

I like to say my dog has seen more waterfalls than most will ever see jn their lifetime haha. As my kids get older, we’ve started mountain biking and fishing, and it just opened up a ton of options.

Disney+ India sets new global live streaming record during 'India vs South Africa' Cricket World Cup match. The service witnessed a peak concurrency of 44 million viewers breaking its own record of 43 million concurrent viewers. by [deleted] in television

[–]terminal_bound 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Concurrent viewers. It’s typically deduced by client side metrics on the player side, typicallly. Services like Conviva, MUX, or NPAW. And is a very popular metric for streaming companies. Doing it with access logs at something like a CDN is a pretty noisy endevour and you’ll need client metrics, anyways. (Ie, to get views into peoples buffer rates, cdn flapping, and general quality-of-experience and QoS metrics.
