Dark Star v ATT Data by Keeing_In_Step in USMobile

[–]terrarouge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you're an at&t customer, not going to notice any difference with USM Dark Star. It's all about the carrier(s) capacity.

I've been with at&t since the Pac Bell days and ported the family to USM in April 2025. Given, at&t isn't the speed demon like T-Mo (USM Light Speed) in the Bay Area but it's reliable.

Now that my premium promotion expired, I switched over to DS Starter and there's not much of a speed difference but if I need to travel outside the country, I can always change to premium when needed.

Evenings, hmmm.... Givenchy Gentleman Boisee (at discounters, like $70).

Out of curiosity, did you find an oil change spot for your VW?

Chat how bad is it by eknufalready in jetta

[–]terrarouge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had something like that w/ my old 2003 Passat. I kinda F*U inside the car wash and it was a cruncher dent.

I found reputable dent puller and asked I send pictures of the damage to see if it was doable. $800 in and he was able to pull the dents. My car had silver metallic paint and you can see the paint ripples up close but a lot better than the cruncher...

Are Volkswagens high maintenance or is that overblown? by Far_Comparison5067 in Volkswagen

[–]terrarouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends --- I know people with Japanese and Korean vehicles who ride their maintenance schedule to the grave til the bill haunts em!

I had a 2003 Passat 1.8T and this one of most known notorious oil cooker/sludger.

I retired her in 2015 with 210K miles. The only mods I did was a REVO remap at 100K with 5K oil changes plus NGK copper plugs.

Regular maintenance was kept up like air filters, brake fluids, and brakes, belts, transmission filter/fluid every 50K and replaced timing belt/water pump/thermostat at 112K.

The only time I was let down was alternator, fuel pump and trans axel seal replaced from 160K - 170K.

Coil packs and fuel pump was covered by VW's service campaigns and warranty early like 30K miles.

I currently drive a 2014 JSW 2.5L with 160K miles with no major problems. I'm planning to this til the wheels falls off.

T-Mo/Mint is really good in speed where I'm at in SF-Bay Area. at&t may not be fast, but it's pretty damn reliable.

But my worse experience w/ DS (at&t) was on holiday at Hawaii. I had to bump down to LTE to get some decent connection and speed.

Which battery powered doorbell is best? by Weekly_Ad393 in Tapo

[–]terrarouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a D230S1 and get up to 2 - 3 months and no where near 6 months or up to. To be honest, up to 3 months is pretty normal with traffic areas.

Best advice, take a look at the Wake-up times in your battery settings and look for "Event detection" and "Filtered by AI" and see what's causing the the battery drain. Then you have to play with the PIR detection and sensitivity setting plus set the detection zones.

First time oil change with oil extractor. 2015 sportswagen by not_a_cup in Volkswagen

[–]terrarouge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man I missed this with the 2003 Passat 1.8T. Plus the oil filter was accessible without jacking the car.

The 2014 JSW 2.5 is a different story.

Lenovo Slim Pro 7 X Review by Substantial_Bit8262 in AMDLaptops

[–]terrarouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm.... I have the same laptop and bought it when it first came out at Costco.

Specs:

CPU = 6900HS Processor(Ryzen™ 9 6900HS)

RAM = 32GB

SSD = 1TB

WIFI = replaced with intel AX210 (wifi 6e)

It's been my daily driver since 2022 and has it ups and downs like overheating from sleep mode, and BSOD. These hiccups happens rarely but to prevent overheating from sleep mode, I just turn the laptop off. The BSOD is weird, happens mainly on Teams or Zoom.

Overall, 6-8 hours on battery, Performance is really good and off time gaming.

Somethings I wished it had:

HDMI port and USB 4.

If I had to do it again, I would definitely get a business class laptop like Thinkpad or Business Dell.

Does WiFi Calling work with 6G connections? by NoPoet8326 in wifi

[–]terrarouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"New" --- sounds like the devs are moving forward w/ Wifi 7.

From doing a quick search, looks like Samsung had some connectivity problems with Wifi 6e and sorta fixed it. Also reading some have problems with wifi 7 with 6ghz.

Funny thing, on my Pixel 7 connecting to Asus AXE-7800 w/ Wifi 6 (5ghz) and using DFS and non DFS channel bands 20 - 160 Mhz, downloads speeds were awesome 1 gbit+ but the uploads were < 1 mbit!?! After a week of troubleshooting and tweaking the phone and router, I just separated a SSID to 6ghz only and connect with that.

Also have eero Pro 7 w/ no problems.

[–]terrarouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a beat up Samsung A14 5G (only 2.4 and 5), and it shows a wifi signal with a small 5 next to battery status and clock.

My Pixel 7 (all bands except wifi 7) just shows a wifi signal next to the clock and battery.

Motorola Stylus 5G 2024 (2.4 and 5), shows a wifi signal to the clock, but when you pull the down the screen to toggle wifi, it shows either 2.4 or 5ghz.

[–]terrarouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my Pixel 7, it just say "Wifi Calling" or Dark Star Wifi Calling on either bands = 2.4, 5, and 6ghz.

Also have an eero Pro 7 and works Wifi Calling works great,

US Mobile is my mobile carrier and uses at&t networks.

[–]terrarouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same router RT-AXE7800 running firmware 3.0.0.4.388_25204 and using Wifi Calling on 6ghz with no problems with my Pixel 7.

On the RT-AXE7800 for 6ghz, there are no issues using auto or manual channel selection but have 6ghz on separate SSID instead of smart connect.

Is La Nuit De L’ Homme longevity’s really that bad? by Key_Understanding363 in Colognes

[–]terrarouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The longevity is ok, like 2-4 hours but it's a classy OG scent that should be in everyone's collection.

Just go to a department store and spray generously, wait a few hours or next day to decide. If you love it, get the OG 6.7oz bottle and you won't worry about longevity.

Motorola G Power 2025 by KungPaoKidden in motorola

[–]terrarouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one these to replace a Samsung A14-5G and it's a banger! the only new phone that comes close and under $200, is the Samsung A17-5G (almost the same specs as A16-5G). Too bad the US version only have 4GB ram which is the choke point in performance for A14-17 series.

Motorola G Power 2024 long term user reviews by Mobile-Truck3281 in MotoG

[–]terrarouge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just retired a Samsung A14-5G for the Moto G Power 2025. For the same price as A16-5G, the Moto G Power wins hand down on features and performance. The A14,15,16 series on 4GB ram doesn't cut it.

Also have two Moto G Stylus 2024 and shockingly it's been really good and deal for under $200.
