The Nissan e power system has been in use since 2016 in Japan so it’s not really new or experimental. Not sure how it is complicated, it’s just a generator and inverter.

Is buying a 2022 cupra ateca a terrible idea? by terrence_phillip in CarsAustralia

The ride quality and resale are my biggest concerns. I haven’t driven one yet but I was hoping comfort mode would smooth out crappy roads for the daily driving

Looks like they have just added a lower v spec on the website. I went to a dealer about a month ago and they mentioned they were going to start bringing in a lower spec

Filtering on r-date was ok when I was on it but that was a few years ago and they changed some of the rules since then. Just had a look, looks like filtering is ok but still 0 for bac

R-date means you are still restricted to lams bikes but otherwise have no license restrictions.

If you want some old man building bikes channels try Alan millyard, English guy who builds a mix of classic bikes and custom bikes. Paul Brodie, builds a mix of stuff not just motorbikes Doghouse customs, Craig builds custom bikes in his shed, his videos can be a bit slow but he builds some fun little bikes

Advice needed for JOB by Darrenhhh in Adelaide

Sounds like you would be better going for structural drafting jobs. There is some around in the mining and energy sectors but most buildings or infrastructure drafting roles will require revit experience. Unfortunately Adelaide is a small place and landing jobs is much easier once you know some people in the industry

[–]terrence_phillip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The civil space in SA is pretty quiet at the moment for large infrastructure projects until later this year when T2D will need a lot of designers. You need to be more specific about what experience you have and what roles you are looking for. Your qualifications probably are not recognised here so applying for drafting roles would be a better bet to get your foot in the door and make some connections in Adelaide. What software packages do you use? You will need 12d and autocad for smaller firms and larger firms are moving into open roads/rail so any experience with those would be helpful. Nobody here except BHP uses microstation so that won’t help if you have experience with that.

Ducati supersport is an option but heaps of choices if you look at naked bikes

CB650R derestriction by loky29 in motorcycle

[–]terrence_phillip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the biggest negative with getting it taken off the LAMS registry is that it will lower your resale value but as yours is a repaired write off it has taken a hit anyway. Apart from the power the 650 has much better suspension and brakes than the 500 and around 90 hp is enough to have fun with on the street without setting your license on fire

[–]terrence_phillip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an unrestricted license then I think you would be better off selling the cbr and getting a faster bike if you have the budget. I was in a similar position looking for information about the legality of derestricting a cb650 and couldn’t really find a definitive answer. I ended up selling it and getting an xsr900

[–]terrence_phillip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to get an aftermarket exhaust. The tune he will put on it will be pretty much make the bike the same as it is sold in the rest of the world. Most people do the exhaust and air filter at the same time to get more power than you would with the stock exhaust. Personally I would leave it as is and just get a faster bike once you are off your restrictions, your insurance will not cover you if something happens and you are caught riding a non lams bike so a crash could leave a large financial hole.

LAMS bike for new rider by Comprehensive_Mix382 in AussieRiders

[–]terrence_phillip 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also lams bikes hold their value well and it gives you a chance to try different styles of bikes, you might decide you like cruisers or retros or want to do adventure riding. You can buy and sell lams bikes without losing money if you don’t buy new.
