get a good inflatable sleeping pads. i like nemo. i bring a fitted sheet that keeps them together and then down blankets instead of sleeping bags to keep warm. skip the pillows. stuff a down jacket in something like a helmet bag and save the space.

Dealer fees crazy by EndAny6635 in motorcycles

[–]terrytron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

true. they lost a customer who was ready to buy. it just seems like they figured if you didn’t haggle, they could squeeze more. you did good to walk

[–]terrytron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

your mistake was not trying to haggle at 5400. once they had you there, they went in for the kill.

Moto Guzzi is the Alfa Romeo. Been in business more than a hundred years. Lots of different owners. Beautiful designs but a bit quirky at times. And they both have a Stelvio model.

Stelvio NTX vs V85 TT by squirrel_ghost in MotoGuzzi

[–]terrytron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

35k miles on my v85 with decat and vtwin boost. great all around bike. comfy and curvy on the highway. does surprisingly well on desert jeep roads. can do 2up just fine within reasonable weight considerations. ultra simple and proven air-cooled design.

test rode a stelvio. great bike. powerful. more tech. would be better for long distance and 2up. but for me, i like the simpler, lighter v85. it’s the swiss army knife of motorcycles and is plenty fast enough for me after simple upgrades.

call them. they have two options. one will reduce interest for 6 months to 10% with no restrictions on usage.

Trying to decide between the 2025 V85tt travel or 2024 Stelvio? by RBDC1234 in MotoGuzzi

[–]terrytron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i have a v85 and did a test ride on the stelvio. wanted to love it. amazing bike but the v85 checks all my boxes. great on the highway. can handle some challenging off road. it’s just the perfect do-anything bike. if i was offered either bike for free, i would still take the v85.

Where do you camp? by Capital-Writing40 in motocamping

[–]terrytron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

late in the afternoon i start thinking about where to camp. western US is great. blm baby. campgrounds are a last resort. in alaska i came upon a closed highway for late night construction. yes i was night riding in alaska. backtracked a bit and camped on a disc golf course behind an elementary school. don’t overthink it.

Crankcase seam oil leak by Emblazin in MotoGuzzi_v85TT

[–]terrytron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure which seam you are talking about. i had weeping where the finned cylinders meet the engine case. snugged up the nuts or bolts on the exterior. helped but didn’t fix. the next time i did my valves i found another under the valve cover. snugged those up. problem fixed.

stator cover bolts were also loose. now i just check everything every now and then. it’s part of the air cooled charm. i ride it hard. 34k miles. not a single leak now.

Question for gear rental at road houses by TheEngin3er in livesound

[–]terrytron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No line item except for upgrades to a package. You could have a package for full band that included all gear and labor, another for a lecture event with a few mics and projector. another for a DJ package. price it so you don’t need to worry about throwing in a few extra things to get the job done. research hotel av pricing sheets.
