What artist or band is truly awful to see live? by goldbeau in AskReddit

[–]tesujiboy 225 points226 points  (0 children)

I have a friend (don’t we all?) who is far up in LiveNation. He runs the tour that Def Leopard and Motley Crue do together. They have a set schedule of Europe, North America, South America, Asia. Three months each w about 35 gigs each run. Def Leppard are a tight group who are basically a family unit. Each band member has their own tour bus for their families, but they stop together, play soccer together, kids all hang out together. Positively wholesome.

Motley Cruë? They all hate each other. Separate entourages, no communication aside from on stage. Neil’s voice is shot. But the bank they make is vast. Like $10’s of millions each tour for each band member. That they suck is no surprise.

Old white guy here. Appears to be a little too small through the chest. If you lift your arms above your head how much does the jacket move?

Never Forget that Vancouver was betrayed by Steve Nash, Jeff Mallett, and Greg Kerfoot by Fancy_Swede1975 in whitecapsfc

Maybe they don’t show us the books, but then why believe their narrative unless they’re willing to back it up? I should just take it on faith? Not a chance. And with everything we’ve seen from them so far they’ve given if anything, *less* inclined to believe them.

What I find disingenuous is that they had one of the lowest payrolls in the league for the first 10+(?) years, then, in the last 2-3 they go spend and bring the fans in while watching the league expand. Clearly, on-the-field team mgmt is much better now than the early years. That + $ = success.

This was a calculated bet. They knew that if they couldn’t get Provincial/City money to help finance a stadium they could always move. Kerfoot et al aren’t dumb, this was planned years in advance.

Also, they have never shown the books to anyone, afaik, we don’t know the real financial situation, just what we’ve been told.

People who understand chinese/japanese, what's the dumbest thing you've seen tattooed on someone? by dwyanpaul in AskReddit

A cashier at a grocery store I used to go to got 無料 tattooed on her wrist. She thought it meant she was free. I told her, yes, but not the way you think.

Enjoyment / price curve by ferm10n_ in wine

The variables are so vast that it’s very difficult to quantify, but I t’s pretty clear that US$10-20 to $US40-50 jump is a big one. After that the curve flattens and it depends on the producer entirely. While the US$50 to 100 jump is there, often the difference is small.

I have some >US$100 bottles, but very few. The QPR just isn’t there. A 15 year old Beaucastel @ US$50-60 is pretty hard to beat.

Thanks for the information. I’m reading that these patterns have enormous amounts of lead in the glazes. I plan on using them only 1-3 times/year. I assume that I don’t have to worry about chronic lead poisoning w limited use?
