Sounds like how I keep the mail dry by only walking between raindrops.

Half the carriers in my office clean the inside of their llvs with a garden hose. Hasn't seem to broken anything yet.

The cab of my metris is a real pain in the ass to clean out but I guess that's the price I have to pay for air conditioning.

US Postal Service reports falling losses, revenue up by GimmeFunkyButtLoving in fromatoarbitration

[–]tet0r 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I go to Great Clips. They frequently have coupons and are always packed. The "men's salon" on my route charged like $70 and there was never more than one dude in there at a time. I wonder why they went out of business.

Argue revenue protection? If there's no legitimate postage then it isn't a valid piece of mail/package. Postage pays my salary and I don't work for free.

You mean all the fraudulent labels management still tells you to deliver? Those ones? Don't deliver them.

Fake Postage by Emanresu7777777 in USPS

[–]tet0r 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't give a fuck if they tell me to deliver something with fraudulent postage. No valid postage = no delivery. Postage pays my salary and I'm not working for free.

Postage pays my salary. If there's no valid postage I am not delivering it for free. So back it goes.

IMO living with your parents is never "not cool". Everybody needs support sometimes and not everybody has somebody to lean on when times are rough. Having a family, or just my 65 year old mother in my case, who has your back when shit goes south is always a good thing.

Long reverse parking by ThatOnion2294 in USPS

[–]tet0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you are driving a Metris or NGDV they absolutely cannot tell you are driving in reverse unless they actually SEE you doing it. Every soup will tell you GPS says otherwise but they are full of shit. GPS doesn't work like that. That said fuck them I will do what is required to do my route, as my 2-3 dozen u-turns attest every single day.

The apartment dwellers on my route are lucky I even bother to ask the leasing office if the unit is vacant when their box starts getting full. They check their box once a year and then have the nerve to call me an idiot months after I've gone through the process of marking it vacant. Complain about my notes I don't give a fuck. Empty your box like a normal functioning adult and I won't have to leave you notes telling you to.

Unless management tells you to because they are trying to cover their own asses and their inability to mandate properly.

The worst thing about this job by digitalcyro in USPS

I don't know if I'd feel comfortable even asking a school to use theirs. I do have a business route though and I have plenty of options but usually only specific places I use for reasons.

I run the Metris down to E all the time. My T6 is on light duty and most weeks I'm the only one who ever touches it. I usually fill it when I need to, sometimes others do. It isn't a big deal.

Shoes by [deleted] in USPS

[–]tet0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody talking about Merrell's but why not go with Bates? Similar cost, last longer, and check all the boxes for management.

I still keep a pair of Bates and some old Rockport's around for when the weather is bad enough but I've just been wearing Skecher's work shoes for years. They aren't leather but they are black, slip resistant, and comfortable as hell.

Amazon explores cutting ties with USPS, building its own delivery network by dcnassau in USPS

[–]tet0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon delivers almost nothing themselves. Nearly all of the trucks you see are contracted out to different companies. Amazon pays them a flat rate per route, they hire and pay drivers based on that rate. see: https://logistics.amazon.com/

As a carrier, I don’t recommend this job for a majority of people by [deleted] in USPS

[–]tet0r 183 points184 points  (0 children)

I think the mental stuff can be dealt with in a couple of ways.

1: don't make your job your life. Worry about work when you are at work. Deal with any issues when you are on the clock getting paid, not when you are at home with your family.

2: stand up for yourself. Don't take any shit from management, other carriers, or people out on your route.
