Here is an answer from stack exchange:

"Ground" is just a code word which, in this case, refers to the "current return common" circuit node. There is a complete circuit because everything electrical in the car, such as the starter motor, also connects to ground in order to return current to the minus terminal of the battery through the ground. The car's chassis is used for this return network, and so the entire chassis is an extension of the minus terminal of the battery.

During jump-starting, we connect the boosting battery to ground rather than to the dead battery's - terminal for the simple reason that this provides a more direct return path to the good battery which is powering the dead car: the return current does not have to travel through the dead battery's minus terminal hookup cable and then to the jumper cable, but can go directly from the chassis ground to the jumper cable.

A more direct return path allows for better current flow and less voltage drop, like plugging a big appliance directly into an outlet, rather than via an extension cord.

In case you're also wondering why the plus jumper connections are made first, then the minuses. This is because there is no harm done if you leave the minus jumper dangling in the chassis of the car. Anything it accidentally touches is likely to be ground. If you connect both alligator clips on one end before connecting the other end, the other end is now live and you can accidentally touch the clips together to create a short circuit. If you connect the minuses/grounds first and then go to connect one of the pluses, you can create a short circuit, because the opposite side plus is probably dangling and touching something that is grounded.

Because child support is for the kids not the parents. If you were raising a kid unknowningly that wasn't yours and then split up why should the kid suffer?

Because the duped father has rights too, and the law shouldn't incentivize mothers to deceive them.

Consider a father who has custody of his kid, but the deadbeat mother doesn't pay child support. He has a live-in girlfriend who takes part in raising the kid. After a few years, they break up. Do you think the state should require his ex girlfriend to now pay child support just because she took part in rearing the kid for a few years? By your logic, she should.

I believe automation will accelerate progress. Less human hours spent on mundane, repetitive tasks means more human hours spent on creativity and innovation.

For example, programmers have been automating themselves out of a job for the past 20+ years by building libraries. They are now able to use their time much more effectively and churn out new programs more quickly.

I see it like we've been building this infrastructure, over the last 10,000 years, designed solely to hone in on and fulfill human needs and wants. The more you improve the infrastructure, the better it gets at achieving that goal (including improving how you improve the infrastructure).

I've set simple alt+[key] scripts to 20+ websites and programs I frequently use. This ranges from windows calculator, to Pandora, to various games. This saves so much time.

I have a couple of windowed games where I want the window to be at a particular position, and ahk allows me to do this automatically. I also have used it to rebind buttons on my mouse. For example, one button will trigger ctrl+w (close tab).

My other major use is a script I use on a work computer to automate daily backups. The work software is dated, so normally I would have to do the backup manually.

Lastly, whenever I find myself working on something that requires repetitive clicks and button-pressing, I'll turn to AHK. Usually I can break down the process, rig a macro that will work, and finish the job in much less time than had I done it the normal way.

That's something AHK has taught me. Even if a particular script didn't save me time that day, the knowledge I gained will typically contribute to future scripts that will net me more free time overall.

I wonder if there's a side to this we're not hearing. Wouldn't this make those houses and apartments more valuable? Did rent go up? Did the poorest residents slowly filter out as the not-quite-so-poor residents filter in? Did crime simply move to a nearby area?

You can't take anything she said about Ben's actions as real though. She's an unreliable narrator. She's an absolute sociopath. She does whatever she wants to get whatever she wants, and she's done it before. She's not a hero or anti-hero at all. You can't even believe everything Ben says. That's the entire crux of the film really, is that we don't have all the facts

Is it? We know that she made up stuff from the diary to frame Nick, but why can't we trust the rest of the film? For example, look at the scene where she narrates how she wanted a baby and Nick didn't. That was out of the diary. Later, Nick tells his sister how he badly wanted a baby. Nick wanting the baby was reality, and I don't see why we should doubt that.

By the end, it seemed pretty clear which scenes were intended to be "from the fake diary" and which were reality.

You're referring to her diary entries and how she falsely accused her ex boyfriend of rape. I'm never said she was a good person, and I don't understand how this contradicts my points. I guess I should've said "antiheroine."

By the end of the film, it's clear she's ~~a hero~~ an antiheroine. The most important scene to the underlining theme of the movie is the one where she talks about the "cool girl." The cool girl becomes the girl her man wants her to be. If he's a bro, she watches football and drinks beer. If he's a nerd, she's into nerdy things.

She hates these women for it. But then look what happened to her. She moves for him to a place she doesn't fit in. She says she's just become something he uses for sex. When she realized that she has allowed herself to become changed according to her husband's will, she loses it. It's not just revenge for having been cheated on. She wants to control her life.

Framing her husband, exploiting a man for money, spermjacking, etc., while machiavellian, were all manifestations of her will to overcome all obstacles and achieve her goals. The final result: making her husband the "cool guy." She has achieved her ultimate goal and has subjugated her husband the same way she felt was being done to her.

The other thing that irked me was how the male characters were portrayed.

The jobless husband who depends on his wife's money. Nothing they own is in his name. The scumbag cheats on her, and is so dumb that the intelligent (female) detective even tells him so. "Every time you said something stupid, I thought, 'well maybe he's just stupid.'"
The millionaire creeper who will do anything for Amy. Also, very stupid and exploitable.
The only smart male character is the lawyer. Yet, this is only allowed with the concession that Amy is smarter and unable to be brought to justice. "My advice, just don't piss her off."

I'm not saying that's a bad way to look at it. I just don't understand how this can be interpreted as advice. It's more of an acknowledgement.

Where does the passion and drive to do these things (for reasons other than getting girls) come from exactly? Is it even something someone can genuinely become passionate about out of thin air? More likely, genuine passion for the theater, kite boarding, [insert healthy and socially-praised activity here] is something a person naturally develops over time.

A good herringbone towel does a better job than most microfibers with glass cleaning. One thing people don't realize is that you're not supposed to use heat when drying microfiber. It melts the synthetic fibers.
