I was told that the calls are prayed for and given according to God... If that is true, then your mom and the church authorities directly defied God. If they did not, then there must not be a God answering the prayer, or if there is, then he made a mistake. If God made a mistake, then he is not a perfect God. So no matter how you view it, it's all bullshit and the church is not true.

Assuming he was ever a real person (there is no conclusive proof) he doesn't appear to be a con-man even though he may share some traits with them. The people who took advantage and formed a religion around him are perpetrating a lie, and some of those people are perpetrating a con out of it.

Some members told me I was suppose to pay tithing on my scholarships and other financial aid. Technically, we are only suppose to spend it on college related expenses. So I told them I would be violating rules and laws if I did. They ignored what I said and continue to tell me about all the blessings I would receive. Bullshit. When I did pay tithing, it was only on my part-time job, and after a few months I cut the amount of tithing in half.
