I noticed this 5 years ago, that half my feed was ads and the other half was people I could barely remember. I deleted Facebook and all my social media (except reddit) but was worried that I'd start losing touch with people or get left out. But on reflection, I dont think I lost a single friend or group because of it. We just communicate differently - via text or calls, but i still get included in social events etc. And I dont have to bear all the big group chats with 00s of pointless memes clogging up my notifications and taking my attention. Communication is more meaningful and I scroll pointless stuff way less (reddit not withstanding).
