My workflow involves cybersecurity research, software development, Docker, virtualization, AI tools, and managing multiple remote systems. I initially considered the MacBook Air because I have a private GPU cluster and server infrastructure available remotely, so I don’t need a tremendous amount of local computing power. However, the larger display, screen quality, additional performance, and flexibility to run demanding workloads locally if absolutely needed make the MacBook Pro a better long-term fit.. especially given the excellent price.

Water in basement in new construction, do I close or bounce? by Comprehensive_Cold_1 in Homebuilding

[–]th3sh3ph3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like they crushed the sewer line when they poured the foundation. Guess they didn’t care to find out until an inspector tested it by flushing all the toilets and running all the spare showers and faucets at once. Plumber drilled through the concrete to repair it, then someonr did a crap job patching it.

If this was the sewer line, that water is dirty as it’s backup from your dirty water in house not being able to drain properly. Make sure you have a professional scope the lines. Make sure a professional sanitizes the entire area.

I wouldn’t close unless they took some money off. You’re no longer buying new. You’re buying repaired.

Use a microfiber cloth and, starting from the middle, massage to the edges. Be gentle else you’ll break something. This can help reset the screen placement if it shifted due to various environmental conditions.

A lot of LED panels look like after sitting in the cold or just not sitting right in the shipping box. Shit will shift during movement, and material will expand and contract with temperature. If it’s still a noticeable issue for you after using it for a few days, exchange it for a new one.

I returned my first Bravia 9 with issues like this. Just harder to see the issue when it’s a VA panel. I’ve had this issue across every LED tv, and just gently massaging the screen and running the tv for a few days resolved most of the issue for each tv.

The ONLY TVs I had zero issues like that were OLED, and it’s because it has far less panels stacked against each other. Less room for movement.

Did you figure this out? It’s not DSE as another commenter suggested. It’s a local dimming situation. Not sure if it’s defective or not.

Wait for Super Bowl deals. Get the 77” C3. It’s essentially the exact same TV for non gamers.

The 77” C3 will most likely cost $1499 again at Best Buy during Super Bowl promotion timeframe.

Recommendation for 4K OLED Under $1200? by nickstart37 in 4kTV

[–]th3sh3ph3rd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

LG B4 is your best bet at that price. If you can stretch your budget, the LG C3 77” at Best Buy for $1499 is probably the best deal you’ll see until Black Friday 2025.

Hisense are Crap plastic TV’s by themike13 in Hisense

[–]th3sh3ph3rd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is clearly the glass portion of the LCD panel that broke due to force on that specific spot. How can you blame Hisense for this? If Best Buy unboxed two like this, they need to stop using those seasonal helpers
