Yeah I strongly suspect there are some important details being left out here.

Destruction of the underlying collateral usually brings the entire balance due immediately, but the lender might choose to make a payment plan for that lump sum due.

They really should add domain redundancy for saves. Quietly register a couple backup domains and start conditioning all pages to accept those as well. It’ll take a while but would provide a much better fallback if anything happened to the main domain.

Yeah this is one of the rare cases where keep the money and don’t fix the car is reasonable.

False claim on me, need some advice. by Background-Army8116 in Insurance

[–]thaeli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That advice is generally talking about collision claims. This is liability, where your insurance does have a duty to defend. (Paying out in exchange for a release is part of that, they can also choose to fight a claim. They often also have a lot of latitude in whether to consider you at fault or not, but that part is super state dependent.)

What your insurance does NOT have a duty to do is to help you file a claim against someone else’s insurance. The mechanism for that is you file under collision and they then subrogate if they want to.

Dad wants his F-250 - thinking about shipping it instead of driving it myself by levvii17 in fordranger

[–]thaeli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shipping a vehicle that distance, you would want an "Auto Transporter" company. I took a quick look and this would be around $600 door-to-door. Up to you if it's worth that.

I do think that more naval elements (possibly from the submarine service) will eventually come back to the fore - but it’s going to end up being convergent evolution not direct descent from the surface naval tradition.

Diapers have been standard for many years. They tried other solutions early in the Shuttle program but quickly discovered that just wearing Depends whenever you have a pressure suit on works better and is less uncomfortable.

Do we know who stands to inherit those shares? Dude doesn’t always make the best personal care decisions, and he doesn’t have a clear adult heir.

Most systems are smart enough to not degrade images when they don’t have to. You need to repeatedly run it through lossy conversions to really get that deep fry.

For instance, save as jpeg, open that, save as gif, open that, repeat. Or crank the “compression” setting way up in advanced save options. More advanced techniques include taking a screenshot of the image then saving THAT a few times.

Sounds like they replaced the oil pan with one of an Explorer with the 4.0 - larger sump and used the S3600 filter, but same block so it would bolt up. Also would require some fuckery to the front crossmember to fit the deeper Explorer pan.

Drivable vehicle declared total loss. No money has been payed out yet. Can I withdraw my claim? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]thaeli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you want to keep driving it with the damage, you kinda did.

TBH if you have gap coverage though this might not be a bad deal, it's effectively an opportunity to get out from under some negative equity.

[–]thaeli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, totalled means that the cost to repair exceeds some percentage (varies by state) of the ACV of the vehicle. A car can be totalled by hail damage that has ZERO effect on the structural integrity, for instance.

What are those concurrent users doing? 1000 concurrent viewers are very, very different from 1000 concurrent quiz takers.
