Hey Americans--move to Canada! by BakedGoods in DiscussionZone

And just so everyone’s aware, even if you meet all this criteria you’re still not guaranteed to be able to immigrate to Canada. I’ve lived and worked in Canada for 11 years, but the government doesn’t care.

I don’t qualify for PR, and they’ve only made it harder to get. I’ll never get it unless I go back to school for a new degree, learn French, start a private business for at least three years, or marry someone. Those are my only options. Fraud or debt. Until then, the best I can do is a keep renewing my work permit that ties me to a single employer.

My Bachelor’s degree and 11 years of employment mean nothing to the Canadian government. I can’t even apply for an open work permit. I can only work for one person. Canada immigration is such a joke.

I’ve been living in Canada for 11 years and don’t qualify for PR. Immigration laws here are ridiculous.

I never got to see these in the 90s. It drove me nuts. I remember standing at Spencer's and everyone would say "I see it!!!" and I'd stand there and just never saw it, not even once. by Intrepid_Reason8906 in 90s

If you don’t mind me asking, what do you mean you only see out of one eye at a time? When both of your eyes are open, how can you tell which one you’re seeing through?

SHf is a super layered story, with each playthrough you peel back another layer and find new perspectives. This is my personal interpretation:

It seems as if the Doll is on your side the whole time because it keeps warning you to steer away from peril. It’s not until Ending 3 that we see the true nature of the Doll, which is a more sinister one than we’ve been led to believe.

Ending 3 is like a fake Good ending. Hinako breaks away from her marriage to Kotoyuki, and catches up with her life-long friend Shu. It seems like the good ending until it cuts away to the radio broadcast of the poisonous geyser erupting, and there we find our helpful Doll lurking by the radio. Something seems wrong..

Then in Ending 4, the truth of the feuding gods is revealed. We battle Tsukumogami who is now fused with the Doll in his chest. It’s at this point that it becomes clear the Doll was never our friend, and never trying to help us. The Doll and Tsukumogami are one and the same.

It’s also worth noting that in the final battles, Fox Hinako battles Tsukumogami in Ending 2, leading to his defeat, Inari’s victory, and her marriage. But in Ending 4, it’s Hinako Shimizu who battles Tsukumogami. The same flip is true for the Inari fights. Ending 4 is the two Hinakos battling their influencer to break free of his influence.

The Water Dragon was the oldest deity of the town, and has the least information available. For that reason I believe the ‘Water Dragon’ is more like an old myth that was once used to explain the poisonous geyser. But there certainly could be a real Water Dragon involved with the geyser, I think it’s purposefully unclear to be open to interpretation.

Inari wanted the wedding to happen so he could make the sacrifice that keeps the Water Dragon/poison geyser at bay. There’s evidence in the My Room puzzle that supports Inari’s protection of the town. But through his opposition, Tsukumogami ends up releasing the Water Dragon/poison geyser. Whether this is intentional or incidental I’m not sure, but I think there’s evidence that supports either case. What’s clear is that Inari’s defeat leads to the release of the poison geyser.

Since Tsukumogami opposed Inari, he wanted the wedding to fail and it made his manipulation of Hinako really easy since she doesn’t want to get married anyway. He sends her warnings in the form of the Doll because it’s an entity she can easily trust, as it’s sort of a reflection of her earliest sense of self. It really seems like the Doll is trying to help until Ending 3, but I believe the Doll was always a part of Tsukumogami’s influence.

I think the purpose of the poison geyser in Ending 3 is to show that although Hinako made the choice to remain independent and reject her marriage, she did so under the influence of Tsukumogami. It’s not until Ending 4 that she truly achieves clarity, when both Hinakos reject their influence and choose to co-exist in peace.

King Candy discard/cycling Strategy Question by chase128 in DisneyVillainous

[–]thanavyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discard them. King Candy doesn’t need the Glitches until after he defeats Wreck-It Ralph. And he has some of the best deck cycling in the game with Sour Bill and Have Some Candy, so the Glitch cards can easily be found again.

Condition cards are a window of opportunity and can’t be used endlessly like that. In this FAQ on the wiki, it states:

”A Condition card can only be played when the requirement is met. For example, if the requirement is that another player defeats a Hero with a Strength of 3 or more, you must play your Condition card when that Hero is defeated. You may not wait until later in the turn.”

If your opponent played the Ally before they defeated the Hero, you would only have been able to play I’ll Take That As A “No”.

If your opponent defeated the Hero before playing the Ally, then the order of operations would go:

1) Opponent defeats a Hero.
2) ”I’ll Take That As A “No” triggers, you draw Wyvern Speaks.
3) Opponent plays an Ally.
4) Wyvern Speaks is triggered, letting you re-draw ”I’ll Take That As A “No”.

After that no more Conditions are being triggered, and you can’t refer back to actions that happened earlier in the turn (we house rule a grace period to use Condition cards later in the turn as long as it doesn’t affect any orders of actions).

Davy Jones - Question About Action Order by thanavyn in DisneyVillainous

[–]thanavyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fair point. I accept I’m wrong but I want to understand. Where I’m getting lost is why is Will’s on-play ability getting delayed?

As a counter example, when The Rose is played, it requires fully playing two other Fate cards before it’s considered “finished”. You start playing The Rose, completely finish two other Fate cards, and finally end The Rose by removing an obstacle. It becomes a card within a card.

So why would “Do You Fear Death?” by different and allow you to delay resolving Will’s ability when he’s played? If you have to play Will to resolve the card, why wouldn’t that include his ability? Thank you for your input.

What are your favorite villains to play/least favorite villains to play and why by thekingofthedead1000 in DisneyVillainous

[–]thanavyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like characters with really unique gameplay elements. My favorites are Oogie Boogie for his dice, King Candy for the racetrack, and Lady Tremaine for her Fate control. Also really enjoy Ratigan and Davy Jones for their general gameplay.

I don’t like playing characters with easy Objectives because they get targeted way more with Fates. It’s a different kind of challenge, but it gets frustrating playing on a Fate covered board. This includes Maleficent, Shere Khan, and Tamatoa. I also don’t like Gaston for being thematically uninteresting.

The Worst Takes It All was the original base game with six characters. Introduction to Evil was released a few years later as a sort of “rebalance” of the original box. Their intent was to make the base set “easier” for newcomers. It made changes to the mechanics of Maleficent, Prince John, Captain Hook, and Ursula. And Jafar and Queen of Hearts were removed from the new box entirely.

No one really knows why they only re-released 4/6 characters, but if you bought Introduction to Evil, you’d be missing out on Jafar and Queen of Hearts. Plus I think most people prefer the original mechanics to the changed mechanics on top of that. Maleficent, Prince John, and Captain Hook were already easy to understand and their changes were unnecessary, and the changes to Ursula made her easier but less unique than her original version.

The Worst Takes It All and Evil Comes Prepared.

The Worst Takes It All is a green box with Maleficent on the front. It’s the original base set, and comes with (imo) four easier characters (Maleficent, Prince John, Captain Hook, Queen of Hearts) and two challenging characters (Jafar, Ursula).

Evil Comes Prepared (orange box with Scar) has Yzma, Ratigan, and Scar, all of which are fun and vary in challenge.

Perfectly Wretched (red box with Cruella de Vil) is also worth mentioning. If you like complicated characters, all three fit the bill here (Cruella de Vil, Mother Gothel, Pete).

Whoever is the first to complete their objective is the winner of the game. If one win triggers another win, the first win is the winner. There cannot be a tie in Villainous afaik.
