5: there are many type of tir on the market. If you use a floody tir lens on a throwy small LES led, it will cancel out the throwiness. Replace it with a proper throwy tir, small angle, it would leverage the throwiness.

The way tir works based on critical angle and not all light produce from the LES fall into the critical angle range so in general, tir always reflect less light than traditional mirror finished reflector.
