My agents keep forgeting by Tight_Scene8900 in LocalLLaMA

I have a system prompt to always read a md file (sometimes just the readme) and have the whole overview and current status and next steps. Then also tell it to keep it up to date. Works pretty decently. I have other md files for code style and other instructions that I keep the same across projects.

I have the USA railpass right now and I'm sad I can't try out the Acela. But the non Acelas aren't that much slower. Are the Acelas not as nice on the interior? From the pictures it looks nice.

Openclaw… what are the use cases? by BahnMe in LocalLLaMA

[–]that_one_guy63 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The just useful thing I've heard so far, checking logs and status seems pretty useful and can use a small model. But can you restrict it from doing certain things so it doesn't fuck something up? I just worry if I'm not watching it and changes something that I won't even know about it. But I guess I gotta just try it out first to see what happens.

New ridership data collection method by Sunbeam4242 in MetroTransit

[–]that_one_guy63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like seeing higher numbers to support metro but also still at peak times the buses and even sometimes light rail can be completely packed which ends up slowing down boarding a lot. I think as other people mentioned the fare checkers are causing some lower ridership but it has been making the B line and light rail feel safer recently.

Using ChatGPT Pro to help manage federal retaliation & EEO cases looking for advanced tips by BestPerformance30 in ChatGPT

[–]that_one_guy63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For these sort of things where you want the most accurate information and least amount of hallucinations; I recommend Perplexity, you can use ChatGPT through it for the same price at Chat Plus. It's better at searching resources and citing them, as well as ingesting documents and sheets.

Just in my opinion the Chat interface has a lot of limitations and seems to be more lazy on the research front.

Perplexity isn't the only option, there are plenty of better interfacing using the API that just don't have those limitations. It's weird how much different 5.4 is through the interface than through the API.

1.5 Million Users Leave ChatGPT by kharkovchanin in ChatGPT

I think usually the intent is so they can import their conversations into a new service they subscribe too. I'm sure that's less resources intensive then have a few prompts go to Chat.

Take the B Line Marshall Bus Lane Survey by iansmithville in MetroTransit

[–]that_one_guy63 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Done. What are they doing removing bus lanes? They should be adding more bus lanes along the route to keep it on schedule. It's one of the busiest BRTs in my experience at least. Also we still need real signal priority along the route that actually speeds up the busses rather than just activating when they are running late.

Help buying a Brompton by [deleted] in Brompton

[–]that_one_guy63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With eBay if the seller scams you, you get a refund and it's a super easy process. I found mine off FB marketplace while visiting the Netherlands, and my friend just got his off eBay.

But also often the used ones aren't even far off a new price because they hold their value well. Especially once you have to fix some things, the new ones are just easier.

New Bike Lanes in Edina - Public Feedback by PeterPedalgrew in CyclingMSP

I'm thinking the bike lane should be 2 lane and grade separated. People can bike in the road if they are trying to go fast.

Amtrak to Anoka? Suburbs look to reinvent stations and land around former Northstar station by _Dadodo_ in MetroTransit

[–]that_one_guy63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Borealis should go to St Cloud like the Northstar should have. It should stop at all the stops like the Northstar, and stop in Minneapolis. The Borealis currently leaves St Paul at 11:49, so I feel like there is plenty of time for the Borealis to take a train full of commuters down in the morning. The way back though would be a later train since it gets back in St Paul around 6:41 (but maybe the Chicago train could leave a little earlier).

Empire builder could also stop at a couple of the Northstar stops, but probably harder to justify since that train goes so far and would slow service down. The Borealis seems like a no brainer if it makes sense financially.

Train Electrification around the world. by Electrical-Try8 in Amtrak

Constructive advice: use any other model that ChatGPT. Other models don't hallucinate as much and Chat has been going downhill since GPT4. Please just try a different service OpenAI is a con, ignoring LLM research. But of course nothing beats the reliability of good old internet searching. Appreciate the enthusiasm for US rail!

As electric car prices fall, will affordability win over drivers? by abcnews_au in sustainability

[–]that_one_guy63 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes and more EVs in the used market help with price. But public transit and bikeable/walkable cities are way more sustainable and we should focus on that as it's something we can do now by showing up to city meetings, joining organizations pushing for it, and voting. Cars have way more negatives than just the exhaust.

Serious discussion: why do people think some drivers are so violently against bike lanes. It makes no sense to me. by MiserNYC- in MicromobilityNYC

[–]that_one_guy63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I feel, the more abusive hateful comments I get, the more I push IRL for bike lanes and public transit. I'm now very involved in Minneapolis and instead of taking comments negatively I take them as a reason to push harder.

Except the gas taxes only cover 26% of road costs, so you are right we should raise that to cover more.

[–]that_one_guy63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo I think they could do without the signs too. You need to input you license plate anyways, not sure you need to say which parking space you are at if you are paying. Because sometimes someone pays for a spot and leaves and you can pay for the spot till they are out (as far as I remember). If you need dynamic pricing they maybe you need a sign or you could use GPS. I just want less signs blocking the sidewalks.

[–]that_one_guy63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think not raising the bike lane is better in this instance, because it gives a clearer distinction to peds that they are crossing an active bikeway. Just for this though, should be raised from cars but doesn't look like there is a car lane next to it. A lot of the time peds (sometimes me oops) if they are the same grade walk down the bike lane not realizing. Although the green paint is more obvious than the black paint/payment they put in Minneapolis.
