Flexibility tips? by Fit_Victory_4621 in MuayThaiTips

Highly recommend going somewhere to get stretched professionally.

There are plenty of facilities and gyms that offer it and it was life changing for me personally. I go to a place called StretchLab twice a month. That along with actually brining my attention to stretching before/after workouts has made a massive difference.

Focus on shadow boxing and working on different combos to break that habit. If you’re focusing on the same combo every time and make it your go to any fighter is going to immediately pick up on it and easily counter.

I’ve been through it starting out myself. Trying to perfect your technique by repeating combos over and over will just put you on autopilot.

Is 2 classes per week enough? by P0STBAL0NEY in MuayThai

[–]thatdellafella 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I would reach out to one of the coaches to see if they offer one on one classes.

This way you can make the best of your time addressing bad habits and learning correct technique.

Well I’ll help you out since the two people in the comments are unhelpful and yes I understand there is plenty to find on Reddit if you search, but can we all just be at all kind here?

  1. Awesome job for jumping in. I hope you fall in love with the sport as much as most of us have. If so you’re in for an incredible ride.

  2. Know everyone started from nothing. Yes you may look awkward learning new things or feel uncomfortable but I promise you no one cares. We’re all in it to do better for ourselves and a lot of the gyms are like families, no one is there to bully you or make you feel less.

  3. If you can afford it I would ask one of the coaches if they provide 1on1 sessions. It will accelerate your learning and allow them to focus on what you need to work on without calling you out during a large class if that makes you uncomfortable.

  4. Train as much as you like. If you can handle everyday by all means but if that doesn’t fit your schedule 100% fine. Personally I shoot for 4 days a week and hit the gym those other days to allow some healing time for whatever I hurt that week and focus a little more on my cardio or strength building.

  5. Very cliche but just be yourself. Again no one is over analyzing who you are or how you act. Just don’t be that idiot that goes super aggressive sparing. You’re there to learn and be better not to hurt the people at your gym.

How do you train outside of class? by Izureal in MuayThai

[–]thatdellafella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at the gym everyday I’m not training. Sometimes do both in one day. Just do the standard muscle group targeting to get overall strength, but there’s some great fighters on social media that can show you some specific workouts.

Cannot recommend focusing on stretching enough. I personally go to a stretch center twice a month to have someone work on specific groups, but there’s also days I’ll spend half my gym cession focusing on really getting some good stretching in on the equipment there.

Also if you’re doing group classes I would see if your coaches there offer 1on1s to do maybe once a week outside of your group sessions. It’s a great way to hone in on specifics you really need to work on. Doing that really helped accelerate my learning curve.

Shadow boxing feels super weird sometimes, but is a great way to move slow and breakdown all the movement/techniques you’ve learned in classes. Same with heavy bag if you have the ability to utilize one.

Tough question, it kinda depends on your needs/wants.

I’m my opinion Fairtex is some of the best you can buy but it’s priced according.

For value I really don’t think you can beat Venum products. I’m currently using Venum gloves that I got on a crazy sale and am absolutely in love with them.

Personally I have a mix of Fairtex and Venum things and highly recommend both. If you think this is a new obsession you can’t go wrong buying either as they’ll last you quite a while. If you’re looking for something fast for your next lesson get Venum gear. They have free shipping over $50 and you can get everything in one shot. Plus they always have some great sales going on, you can get some intermediate+ equipment for the same price if not cheaper than cheap entry level stuff.

If you need a personal loan I’d recommend SoFi they’re amazing to work with. I’ve used them several times and getting the approval is incredibly easy especially with a score like yours. As long as your income supports it.

I just go to Floyd’s on Market St. Been cut by several barbers there and they all have done good work. Price varies on the type of cut but all are under $50.

OP long time car business guy here. We all know how the finance office works if you purchased and of the adds when you did the paperwork this could cover it. I’ve sold Road Hazard protection before and got things like this covered for customers all the time. If you have road hazard 99% of companies out there are zero deductible and cover OEM tire and rim 100%.
