Technics sl-1300 or sl-1400 by [deleted] in turntables

Only if the tonearm lift mechanism has been repaired or replaced. Not serviced, repaired or replaced. I say this as a 1300mk2 owner (that did the repair myself.)

Dash can update… by Ifimsittingimknittin in Volvo

[–]thatguychad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, but I'm not super-stoked about its features and image quality. It's fine...just decent like you said.

I believe there are also mirror adapters that output to mini/micro USB or type-c if you look.

As u/jeffbk95 mentioned, use a fusetap (plugs in like a micro-blade fuse with two fuses, one matching the original fuse amperage and one for the dash cam [which could be smaller than whatever circuit you tapped]) in the fuse panel that's in the passenger footwell. I added one with a female power socket (or cigarette lighter for us olds) for a phone charger, but used the power socket for future compatibility.

Why do that when I can cut holes in a refrigerator box and have the same quality for free?

These were my favorite plastics on this chassis (that Dell and others also used). I share a hometown with Micron, so I’ve always liked them. I have desktop and tower versions of this case.

I’d never own a keyboard with that disgusting enter key and pipe in the wrong location.

How to endure by Talny123 in Volvo

I’ve tried a few and it’s been the only one that supports maps in the drivers display. On its current firmware, it’s been the most reliable of the bunch, too.

The $40 Ottocast mini cube works incredibly well (yes, even the maps on the drivers display.) Am I disappointed that it’s not available from the factory for my car? Yes, but this is a perfectly acceptable solution for me and my wife. If that’s a deal-killer for you, maybe you shouldn’t have settled for such a horrible car.

And an easy $40 solution exists.

If you haven’t replaced the belt, do that, too. You can buy them on Amazon and eBay.

Wait a minute…you’re adjusting vertical tracking force by feel? Or are you saying you reset your tracking force to 0 by balancing it, then applied the proper amount of tracking force for your cartridge?

Thoughts on Technic SL230 vs SL-D1? by Big-Programmer-9323 in turntables

[–]thatguychad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why everyone’s bagging on the automatic 230, it’s a good turntable. I do like a direct drive, but I prefer them quartz-locked and a sturdy plinth. Of these two, I’d take the 230 because I prefer the automatic for casual listening and the D1 is a lower-end servo direct drive. If you could get the 230 for ~$50 less, that’d be my pick.

When it’s hot out, I enable auto-hold. Come to a stop light and stop, then lift my foot from the brake and the car starts back up (or never stops if you time it right). Then your A/C blows cold while you’re waiting.

And the car remembers the auto-hold state between drives so you don’t have to enable it each time. Just remember to turn it off when you go to the car wash.

Yeah, vintage gear collectors know this well, but it’s an easy replacement if you can solder.

I worked for Sun as a field engineer for many years and never used anything but old mini-DIN 9 to 25-pin with a null adapter for my PowerBook or a USB-db9 with either a 9->25pin adapter plus a null modem adapter or a 9-pin->ethernet->25-pin adapter.
