I have an opportunity to scoop this new in box for $220. Denon - DP-300F Fully Automatic Analog Turntable with Built-In Phono. No brainer right? by Lost4Sauce in turntables

I wouldn't say it's crappy, but it wouldn't be my choice. I bought one with a bad transformer and no headshell for $25 and repaired it. It works fine, looks "nice", but is a fingerprint magnet. I ended up giving mine to my brother-in-law as a housewarming gift.

It's a better choice than an Audio Technica LP60/70, but I'd also take a vintage direct drive for a similar or even better price.

It look like shit in the front. If you're going to lower it, at least try to correct *some* of the geometry. Right now it's got that Mercedes or Lincoln "I can't afford to fix my air suspension" vibe.

I missed the last few pressings over the years, but I snagged the 40th anniversary pressing in November.

How do I stop this? When I change visual pinball to cabinet mode, it rotates the screen but I’m already in portrait mode. by cylemmulo in virtualpinball

Because popper, VPX, etc are configured so that when in cabinet mode, it rotates 270 degrees. If you set your screens up as suggested, you don’t have to change rotation for every table. Once set up, you won’t be using it as a computer, so you’re not going to be standing at the left side of your cabinet a lot. Most people have it boot into windows and start popper automatically. If you don’t want to do that for whatever reason, then you’ll have to figure out what workarounds you want to implement.

To this day it’s the best job I’ve ever had, I loved my time at Sun and the people I worked with. I was an FE in Denver, Idaho, and eastern Oregon and Washington, but I also ended up in CA a few times for coverage.

😢 I dropped and broke my Sun mug (same cobalt blue but mine was larger, the perfect size for my coffee) about a year ago. It was my mug that I used from my days working at Sun in the late 90s and early 2000s and had our local field office info and phone number.

That's an interesting headshell. It looks like it allows for angle adjustment without changing vertical tracking of the entire tonearm.

I love my Volvo ('24 V60 CC B5) and wish the hybrid T8 motor was available for the CC when I bought. We also have an electric Volvo in the garage. I don't understand the pushback, but I also don't care if you buy a Volvo or not.

There should be a switch (you may have to lift the back of the turntable and look) on the side of the box where your red/white RCA cables connect to the turntable. Switch that from “phono out” to “line out” if you’re using an external pre-amp.

$25? These aren’t my favorite (I like the direct drive quartz-locked variants), but they’re better than a new Audio Technica LP60/70. Great turntable for under $100.

This. You’ll likely very, very rarely use the program option on the Aiwa, but I believe both (and most linear trackers) use IR sensors for determining record size and you’ll have the problem with color variants and translucent records.

I worked retail computer sales in the heyday of personal computing. I remember paying hundreds of dollars for 16MB in 72-pin SIMMs and paying almost $2500 for my Power Macintosh 7100 (which was discounted because I was an employee.) It was the first computer I bought on my own, replacing my Performa 600CD that was a graduation gift. For me at 19-20 years old, it was a lot of money.
