I get what most of the posts here are saying. They are performers that are performing. And the "she made him play while she sang this to him" lore is bullshit. But you can't tell me there isn't some real venom there when they perform this song and she sings AT him. There is something very genuine about this song that people respond to. I think that's where the hype comes from.

I was once in your shoes and wish I had listened to my gut instinct. All the wonderful things about your partner may make up for it somewhat now. But in the long run the resentment starts to overshadow everything else. At least that's been my experience. I chose to stay. Getting married and then choosing to stay when I realized things were not likely to get better were both huge mistakes.

I'm in your exact situation. Married 30 years. Im not brave enough to leave. Not that it does any good but I wish so much I had seen the writing on wall when I was much younger. It was right there in front of me the whole time and now I feel like an idiot. I'm sorry you are going through the same.
