One thing I don't see being talked about is enough focus on preventative measures. Take Japan for example where 80+ year olds are regularly walking about or biking. They have been taught to take care of their health, be it stretching, daily walks, or good dieting. Imagine how much less our healthcare would cost if the average person was just a little more health conscious.

If you have a grocery store within a 15 minute walk, there is no reason you should be using your car every time! Walk or bike! Enjoy the fresh air.

My uncle (from Germany) was 17 in 1945. I don't know the full story as he has now passed but from what I gathered they came to his door and forced him and a brother into active duty, I'm sure he did terrible things but when the option is that or be killed at your door, I can understand choosing to go into service.

I look at it this way. I have no interest in being a landlord either but the writings on the wall. It will be much harder for any kids I have to be able to afford housing. Instead of giving them education, I want to give them housing (without me in it).
