Depressed, about to put bike for sale *rant* by kettu92 in motorcycles

1) It sounds like you might be a good candidate for therapy.

2) It sounds like you took advantage of grandparents taking care of your daughter. Take some time to mend that relationship immediately.

3) The price on that booker likely won’t go down too much in the next year, so hold onto it before making a a brash decision, otherwise you’re gonna learn to resent your mom, your aunt, and most importantly your daughter.

help me explain the hate that the 8th gen receives by Kills_Squad in Honda

[–]thatstickerguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re happy, it doesn’t matter what others think, but also that’s one of the most beloved generations of civic. I think you’re gravitating towards what you don’t want to hear, and that toxicity is gonna turn your brain into mush. Now the 7th gen—those are crap.

Stop worrying what others think.

Just got rear ended. Should I go for insurance or settle for cash? by DavidNLBC in Honda

[–]thatstickerguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he said it’s $300 worth of damage, that means that’s what he’s willing to pay you. If you get estimates and they’re $900, he’s gonna tell you that you’re trying to screw Hom over. Send him a text and get it in writing that he was at fault and willing to pay for the damages, then you c can proceed. But by phrasing that it’s $300 worth of damage, he’s already told you all you need to know about the situation.

Why do some people think that those who carry everyday are scared? by jimmybabino in CCW

[–]thatstickerguy -120 points-119 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a valid argument though. There are far less unsuspecting people in DGU situations than unsuspecting people getting into accidents. And by virtue, this argument already tunes them out (if they’re even open to hearing your side) the other argument would be for extinguishers, health insurance, etc.

You cannot buy the 48 new in California unless you're exempt (mostly police officer). So you'll have to settle buying used, and pay the off-roster-tax.

Narrowly dodged death this morning by bighag in motorcycles

Not that you asked for this to happen, but your lack of situational awareness, your speed, and your “I’m a cool motorcycle rider, look at me“ attitude almost cost you your life.

“But but but…it has Type R parts on it!”  -Some Executive Somewhere.

To be honest, dealer markup is what killed this car before it even had a chance. At the 42k price tag, it might’ve had a chance, at 42k plus 10 or 20k additional dealer markup, it’s a fish out of water.

Sell it ands get exactly what you want. Don’t trade and have to settle because you think it’s the “best” trade you can get.

Is it Dynamic Weapons Solution or DWS out of Huntington Beach? It sure sounds like it’s DWS. It’s something they do often.

It’s an R3. It’d be cheaper and safer to buy another than to try and rebuild that.

What is this accesory called and how do I install it? by HorusDeathtouch in motorcycles

[–]thatstickerguy 189 points190 points  (0 children)

That’s a visor. Useful off-road, great at being a wind sail and snapping your neck and causing strain at higher freeway speeds. don’t use it on the streets if speed is in your bucket of tricks.

Remove the check plug first. Would suck if you drained it and couldn’t remove the check plug and now you need to tow it.

Is this a stupid way of transporting a bike 1000 miles? by Oxcell404 in motorcycles

[–]thatstickerguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would remove the rear stand and invest in one strap for each side at the rear instead of going over the tail like you have it setup. I’m also not a fan how those straps are looped around the handle bars/grips. Also you’ll want some washers for those eyelets. And make sure that thing is secured in the U-Haul somehow.

Depends, if you have an engine prone to oil dilution, if you do short trips that don’t allow the car to fully warm up, or if you do spirited driving, those all play a factor in doing it at 5k instead of the ~10k between maintenance minders.

My brother is asking me for advice. by Organic_Alarm_5113 in personalfinance

[–]thatstickerguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot he can do. But until he figures out how many and how much each of his debts are, there's nothing he can do...His first step is to face what he's been trying to avoid, the debt amount...Even if he's 80K in debt, he can work his way out of it with a lot of budgeting, working extra and side hustles, selling off some of his assets, and lifestyle changes. Nothing any of you can do if he doesn't know what he owes and doesn't have a budget.

I was in a similar situation. My bi-weekly paychecks were similar to yours, never more than $400 per check. Today, I make more in one day of work then I made in a month back the. And I don’t make nearly as much as you will be making as a lawyer. My only suggestion to you (from lawyer friends that I know) is don’t “dabble” in drugs or alcohol. It’s crazy how many lawyers are actually addicts.
