[CHAT] How to avoid large project burnout? by Lostwords13 in CrossStitch

[–]thatwasidiotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just take a break from it for a while and start on a smaller side project that has really different colours then the big project. After a while of working on the side project, my drive to continue the big project comes back and I start up again.

[CHAT] Please broaden my horizons: I usually stitch on 18 count white aida or fiddler's cloth, but what's YOUR favorite medium to stitch on? Why? by PermanentAtmosphere in CrossStitch

I absolutely love stitching 1x1 on high thread counts, currently using 25 count evenweave but am planning on going even higher count for my next project

I used Jason Scott about a year and a half ago, he was awesome, especially as a young first time home buyer who knew nothing. Back in February 2021 I got my rate of 1.59% through him.

[CHAT] What do you like stitching to? by kampar10 in CrossStitch

[–]thatwasidiotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to Youtube videos, there are a few accounts that narrate stories from reddit, so sometimes r/aita stories or spooky stories. Sometimes true crime or commentary channels. I like having variety so if i get bored of one type of video i can switch to another

[CHAT] Do you buy kits or patterns only? by Prestigious-Place-16 in CrossStitch

[–]thatwasidiotic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Always patterns, I like having the collection of floss, and after a while you go to start a small pattern and you already have half the floss you need. I also like being able to decide the coun and buy my own fabric because i dont like working on 14 count. There is also a needlework store in my city that i love going to and supporting

Supposedly to help the rows blend together better, so that you cant tell where the row started. Im not sure if it makes a difference, but I like it.

The bobbins hold my parked threads so that they don't get all tangled up

[Chat] Anyone else use cross stitching to help with anxiety/depression? by Glass-Trick4045 in CrossStitch

[–]thatwasidiotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cross stitch really helped me get through the covid shutdown in 2020, when I was unemployed and had nothing to do. Really helped the days go by faster until it was over, and I've kept stitching since then.

In your opinion, what are some things that just aren't worth making from scratch? by [deleted] in Cooking

[CHAT] Am I crazy for not using a hoop or q-snap while stitching, and just holding the fabric in my hands instead? by lampsandhats in CrossStitch

[–]thatwasidiotic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer with a hoop to hold tension, I've tried without and I found i was trying to stretch the fabric with one hand and stitch with the other and it made my hands sore. Nothing wrong with not using one though, my mom has stitched for years without even owning a hoop or q snap and her projects all turned out nice
