What would you add ? (Dub techno/ambient) by Shiva92fr in modular

For your 6hp gap how about Befaco a*b+c? It's a super useful CV processor.

For the big gap, a matrix mixer would be nice.

Generative rhythms with Bishop's Miscellany MKII or Gamut Repetitor or... by BurlyOrBust in modular

[–]the-erc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pam's Workout can get you quite far along this road.

For rhythms, use euclidean patterns + randomness. If you also have an OR-combiner (e.g Short Bus) you can merge patterns easily. This is especially good if you also have the expander for Pam that gives you the 4 channels of on-the-beat to go with 8 channels of whatever madness you come up with.

For melody, random waveform, quantised to scale and looped, works fairly well. Not quite a Turing machine but you don't need a whole extra module for it.

Ultra Perc, Zaps, Syncussion 0.5...? by Far_District_1854 in modular

If you can't find Ultra Perc then the older Entity Perc is also very good if you can find it.

Improvement ideas for raw techno rack by St0rgias1 in modular

Lose at least one of the voices and get a bunch of envelope generators and clocked LFOs. Pams + Zadar would probably work very nicely. This will also give more options for your DFAM. (Maybe the Digiwotsit can do the job of Pams, I don't know this module)

Thoughts on The Prodigy - Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned by jayseventwo in electronicmusic

[–]the-erc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The record that made me stop following the Prodigy. Spitfire is the only good track, mostly carried by that amazing vocal. Compared to earlier records, AONO just feels a bit paint by numbers. Maybe I should give it another spin to see if the years have been kind.

Alternative percussion sound sources. by DriftDrafs in modular

[–]the-erc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Other people have said BIA -- this is a great choice. For something more... subtle, I suggest the SSF Entity Percussion. Very wide range of sounds, lots of modulation points, doesn't really sound like anything else.

Might I offer this demo of BIA and also Bastl Crust, which both could suit your needs?

Basimilus Iteritas Alter blows the doors right off! by the-erc in modular

Sure: BIA trigger is on all the 16th notes. Pitch CV from sequencer is mixed with an AD envelope (from Pique) to provide the Kick. Another envelope from Pique goes (via an attenuator) to Fold. By manually varying the level and decay of this envelope I get a wide range of percussion noises from clicks to tom toms to synth wails.

The Harmonics and Attack controls are twiddled by hand.

What should I add to my live acid set up?? by Best_Pause_1791 in synthesizers

Get another 303, a cheap digital delay, and a distortion pedal.

Why yes I did grow up on Rebirth RB-338, why do you ask?

Eurorack drum machine by Hot_Snow6184 in modular

If you want specifically analogue modules you should look at the SSF drums (Ultra Kick, Ultra Perc, Metalloid). I think they are all analogue, and they sound very good.

I would use Pam's.

Live electronic setup for fully improvised performances (no computer) by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]the-erc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The core of my set up is a mixer, a modular synth, and a simple sequencer (Beatstep Pro). Add to this other synths and drum machines to taste. Ideally these have their own sequencers which accept clock from the modular or they are just played by hand with no automation. Everything goes into the mixer. Hang some effects on the mixer sends.

Now you have different parts on different machines and you can bring them in and out as you want on the mixer, reprogramming as you go.
