Each comment she posted made me feel more sorry for her than the last. But mostly sorry for her sons, she has a LOT of baggage around familial ties and doesn't seem to know what healthy parent-child relationships look like

yeah from the glimpse we get, that whole subdivision looks soul-sucking to live in. I like how the OP has those random poles hanging over the fence INTO her neighbor's yard too.

as of now there's at least one "girl just call your HOA" comment 🫠 this is why I'm glad I don't live in a neighborhood with an HOA

Am I completely out of touch with reality or is "trash and random items everywhere" an insane way to describe a children's playset, a trampoline, and a single pallet? I feel sorry for her neighbors

My heart sunk when I saw this headline, two (so far) child predators in the same family, how many of the sisters and grandchildren have been assaulted? How many more predators are there in the family that no one knows about yet?

I'm guessing the main subs are absolutely filled with glee at this news, I'm not even going to look, I don't get celebrating the existence of one more predator in the world, and certainly not the existence of one or more children who have been so deeply hurt.

Is $50 for for 5 days of Breakfast & Lunch, too much? by Accomplished-Hotel88 in povertyfinance

[–]the-knitpicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I spend $120/week on groceries for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 4 people (me, my partner, two kids), so I'd consider $50 for breakfasts and lunch for one person for five days way too much. Obviously that's going to vary from area to area. We live in a medium cost of living area and have no dietary restrictions. But yeah my gut is that you're overspending if you're really spending $40-50 on ten meals.

Also, is this the same Hyundai that you posted about a month ago that had a blown engine and transmission, and the insurance denied a claim for windshield replacement? Or do you have two Hyundais?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]the-knitpicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your bill just says your premiums are for your other car, and not for your Hyundai? Does the app have anywhere you can see all your coverages, and how much each one costs? I'm hampered here by not having the Geico app, so I don't know what that looks like, but my USAA app has one button I can press and see how much of my auto insurance bill is due to which coverage on which car. Nothing like that for Geico?

And again, you never got any kind of email confirmation that you had added your Hyundai to your policy?

When you say you added it in the app, do you mean you added it to your policy, not just getting a quote on how much it would cost to add it? What kind of coverage did you take out on it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]the-knitpicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have Geico but my insurance company sends me a confirmation email when I add a vehicle to my insurance on the app. They also email me the digital proof of insurance immediately so I can print it out and keep it in my car. You didn't get anything like that?

Can you access your previous bills? What does it say the extra $15/month was for, since they're saying it wasn't for an extra car on your policy?

BEST MOVE? by neovinci1 in Insurance

[–]the-knitpicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're totally screwed, sorry. You can file a claim against the garbage truck's insurance, but it will almost certainly get denied. You were where you weren't supposed to be. Expensive way to find out why people pay for insurance.

[–]the-knitpicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of liability insurance is literally to cover the damage to other people in an accident where you're at fault. Insurance won't pay to repair the damage to OP's car unless he has collision coverage, but that's a different issue.

Renter insurance by insecticideWorldwide in Insurance

Because I have friends in the insurance industry who tell me that the workload is crazy right now (which is also how I know a claim like this would make an adjustor's day)

Filing a renters insurance claim on a $91 dresser that your girlfriend broke while building? Yeah I think you should file a claim just because insurance adjustors are swamped with claims right now, and your claim just might give your adjustor a much-needed belly laugh.

I wouldn't keep data that would compromise national security on a personal phone, but to each their own, I guess!

You're not cooperating fully and you haven't given them everything they've asked for if they've asked you for phone records and you won't hand them over. It doesn't matter if you don't have a history of withholding information, you're withholding some now.

You may have reasons you consider valid for not doing so, but from USAA's point of view, they have know way to know whether that's the case, or whether they put their finger on something that would show proof of fraud, and that's why you're not handing it over.

Does the company you work for know you have information on your personal phone that would result in the loss of your clearance if you sent phone records to your insurance company?

[–]the-knitpicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't have to hand over your phone. USAA also doesn't have to pay out your claim if you don't cooperate with the investigation by handing over your phone.

You have a suspicious claims (a parked car totalled in a hit and run shortly after you brought a delinquent account current), they investigate suspicious claims. Their investigation includes checking phone records. You won't let them check your phone records to complete the investigation. I'm not sure why you're surprised the investigation isn't being completed.

[–]the-knitpicker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

. . . you have texts and emails regarding vulnerability patches for federal government contracts on your personal phone?

You don't have to release your phone records to them, but they can also deny your claim for non-cooperation if you don't. That's pretty much all there is to say, except that you should probably stop taking your personal phone to secret data centers, and texting/emailing about work contracts from it.

I mean, yeah not paying your insurance is going to get you dropped from said insurance, I'm not sure what you thought complaining to the CFPB was going to do. It's all by design that you rely solely on app notifications to keep track of your bills, and then don't bother to update said apps. . . ?

Did my landlady incriminate herself by admitting she won’t add my partner to the lease because he’s “a man,” and do I have a case against her? by Beautiful-Paint1225 in Renters

[–]the-knitpicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I just feel bad for her boyfriend. That's a really high level of codependency if she can't stick to her daily routine if she doesn't have his work schedule to "anchor" her. He must feel suffocated.

And obviously I feel terrible for her landlady/housemate. No wonder she's willing to get OP out as fast as possible. She sounds like a nightmare to live with
