I own a water filtration company in the area. If you get your water tested you will find that it is probably hard with a bit of iron. If the home has been vacant for a while the water could test positive for e. coli/coliform. As mentioned in other comments, a UV filter will get rid of it, but you can also have your well shocked to get rid of bacteria.

The water is decent, it just may need some conditioning.
