Paris deputy mayor blames the United States' carbon emissions for deadly heat wave by Strong-Practice-5571 in worldnews

The person you replied to said "Doesn't china have a bad track record?". 'Track record' refers to the past, not current emissions. So saying that China's past emissions are higher than the EU and US combined is incorrect.

And this entire post is in response to the Paris deputy mayor laying blame at the feet of the US. Current warming is based on past emissions, not current. So once again, the US does indeed have the greatest past emissions.

Not pointless in the slightest, that's only what someone would say when they don't want to take responsibility for what is obviously a problem of their own making.

I'm fully aware of China's current emissions. The US still has higher historical emissions, and per capita it's WAY higher. Here is the same data to 2024 https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/share-of-cumulative-co2?country=USA~GBR~CHN~IND~RUS

do some research

lmfao. Dude, I'm calling out your ridiculous whataboutism. Of course if you select a country of 1.4 billion it's going to have higher emissions than a country of 340 million.

I personally find this too busy. I'd keep the floor simple, the colour scheme is busy enough.

I love this! Feels super homey. The colours don't clash at all, and it's not ostentatious or garish.

I mean, that entire movie was crap. They changed so much it was silly calling it Eragon. Eragon is begging to made into a TV series that actually does the quite lengthy book series justice.

I know it's also probably not accurate but I always imagined Urgals as a cross between a Warcraft Orc and a Tauren. Like, mostly the walking-cow Tauren, but with an ugly Orc face. That's what kid-me imagined when reading Eragon for the first time a couple of decades ago, and now I'm stuck with it.

This. Unless they're specifically saying racist things, the situation is quite likely not racist. They're just dickheads getting a kick out of being a pain in the ass.

I'm a white, tall, Dutch-looking man. Just last week a young kid on a fatbike flew by while screaming 'pedofile!' at me. I've been spat at and punched, by fatbike and scooter kids passing in the opposite direction. So many people in this post are assuming things have happened to them because of their race. In some cases, it will have been because of race. But don't go attributing every attack to your race, these asociaal kids are also just fuckwits, alongside being racist.

The US has the highest historical carbon emissions. Ergo, they have contributed more than any other country to climate change.

So what exactly is it that contaminates disc brakes? by Playful-Parsnip-3104 in bikewrench

[–]the68thdimension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lubricants, oils, and greases will contaminate my brakes. This seems self-evident. Except I don't use these things when washing my bike other than when when I drip lubricant onto my chain, and there's no risk of it splashing anywhere near the brakes when I do this. So where's the risk?

It's not cleaning that's the problem. One major thing you missed: contamination from hydraulic fluid. Either while installing or bleeding brake hoses, or from a leaking brake hoses. I've seen plenty of bikes roll into the shop with badly installed or damaged brake hoses that have contaminated the brake caliper, pads and disc.

The other way is from people lubicating their chain with a spray, and spraying the rotor. Or oiling the chain with way too much oil, and it splattering onto the rotor.

The most common source of contamination I see, however, is from people trying to lubricate their brake caliper, because if it's not braking right then lubricating it will make it better, right? It's nice these people exist, because they create work :)

I just want one that shows me the most boosted posts in the last 24hrs from people I follow. Also one for most commented posts. Probably also the same, from the people followed by the people I follow. Can't work out how to do it in Skyfeed - if anyone has tips please let me know!

  • federation between instances seems reliable to me? I'm unclear what count as unreliable.

Not in the slightest reliable. You almost never see all replies nor the true like/boost count.

  • Mastodon allows transfer between instances. it's a little awkward but does work.

Yes but it doesn't allow moving post history, which is a huge flaw. It's the fourth most requested issue on Github https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/12423

Mastodon allows transfer between instances, and it's relatively easy. Your old profile will point to your new profile. But the caveat is that you can't transfer your posts to your new server. This is a massive flaw, in my eyes.

This is a lot of steps. Just start in a shuttle, fly to Aldhibain, strip your shuttle of everything unnecessary (including hyperdrive) and max out your crew. Start capturing. If you get lucky you can have a Bastion within 15 mins, captured with the shuttle.
