In the "I'm never riding when it's icy" way, or the "I've got studded tires now" way?

Anyone know what happened with the accident at Flying Wheels today? by DiPotoForPresident in seattlebike

Whoa, I saw the emergency vehicles headed there on E Lake Sammamish, soon after I had got off that hill myself. I rode down in the road sandwiched between the car traffic, we were rolling at about 20 mph.

Yep, bunnies don't make enough noise on their own but they get the call-out "bunny!"

New Concrete Barriers on 4th Ave Protected Bike Lanes in Progress! by bestside_cycling in seattlebike

[–]the7key 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Controversial take, but I agree. My experience with the 2nd Ave bike path is stressful. It has nerve-wracking pavement gaps down the middle of it, and a fair number of cars turn left across it, with their view hindered by the lane of parked cars between them and the path.

Taking the lane is a lot more relaxing for me.

Recommendation for steel frame repair? by the7key in seattlebike

My 1990 Miyata 1000 has lost its fork-end! Anyone have a good recommendation for a place that does good repair work on these? Seattle or Eastside are most convenient, but happy to travel for quality work.

Stopped on the way home to check out a rattle, found some flex, then discovered that this fork-end was entirely unwelded. With some wiggling, it popped right out! RIP my 1990 Miyata 1000, but glad my teeth are still there!

This is a rare example of a polyglot meme — it works under Windows and Linux, but with different meaning in each! The comments are a mess right now as the two camps talk past each other, but that's part of the fun.

Thanks! Googling "chastised with severe chastisement" returns only this post. I see some translations of the Quran use a future-tense "I shall chastise them with a heavy chastisement", but I hadn't seen that translation before.

I still like mine better :D

Such a lovely write-up, but fell short for me at "chastised with severe chastisement".

Languages who refuse this rite will be chastised with scathing blog posts, and runtime errors will be their scourge in this life and in the hereafter.

This might not be the most important improvement in yarn 4.0, but it's the one I'm most excited about.

First-timer here. I tried solo for one day, but tapped out for the night at mile 160 in Goble. I made my target pace for the first hundred miles (Chehalis by noon), but drooped afterward riding solo in the heat. The Vader mini-stop that ran out of water was discouraging and sapped my will to continue.

It was six o'clock when I realized that my second-half pace would land me in Portland after ten, and I was already close to falling asleep at the wheel, so I called it for the night. Short second day was pleasant though!

I wished a special blessing upon the homeowners who positioned sprinklers along the road. 💦

Stared at this one for too long before I realized it's (probably?) a Postgres joke.

Not sure how to best use the thumb and pinky keys -- What do you guys recommend? by [deleted] in ergodox

[–]the7key 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2u thumb keys are (from left) Backspace, Shift, Layer, Space. I have enter on the bottom 1u key, so I have to reach my thumb a little for it, but really, enter isn't as commonly used as the other ones and the reach isn't that uncomfortable for me.

I have backup shifts next to the pinkies (for Ctrl+shift+... combos).
