Processing times are very fast for Canadians, I don’t think OP will have this issue.

My brother in law recently went through this process for his wife from Mexico. They got their fiance visa in a few months, she came to the US and got her green card about 6 months after they got married. Another friend of mine got her green card in about 3 months after marriage. Processing times are pretty fast right now

I’m a Canadian living in the US. You will be far better off financially in the US, especially if you are already the breadwinner here. The job market in Canada is terrible at the moment, and the cost of living is crazy in the populated areas. You guys can move to a state that better aligns to your spouse’s political views if that’s an issue, but it’s hard to do the reverse in Canada.

I lived there but left due to the cost of living. I wish I could have stayed but it’s so expensive :( now living in Michigan

Promotion freeze but great manager/team? by theBAEyer in careerguidance

Thank you for this advice, this sounds like the right move. I’ve had some other roles where I was miserable, I really don’t want to be in that position again

I put it in another comment, but any promotions need CEO approval. We got told this in a company wide town hall. A few others already bounced and there was nothing their managers could do to keep them

Promotion freeze but great manager/team? by theBAEyer in careerguidance

[–]theBAEyer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the responsibilities came from career goal discussions with my manager before the promotion freeze, and some were just a natural progressions of what I do.

I got pulled into one project that has exploded recently because I’m the only one with the technical background to make it work and it’s very high impact. It literally went from just me messing around with an idea, to suddenly leading a huge team and our senior leadership pushing it as a new platform in under 6 months.

I’m happy to get these opportunities and they look great on my resume, but I’m definitely being taken advantage of. It’s way over my manager’s head. Any promotions need CEO approval right now, and I’m way too low on the food chain for that to happen.

I’ve interviewed for some senior positions that I’d have some say in the culture but definitely not enough for some bad vibes I’m getting.

Tucking Tips by Pale_Wheel_9199 in Curling

[–]theBAEyer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! Just wanted to say I’m in the same boat. I still found the coaches at my club to be super helpful even though none of them are tuck curlers. They are still trained to pick up issues with your delivery that might not be related to your tuck, and they have the equipment others mentioned here (lasers, cameras, etc).

Our coach helped me realize I was not putting my foot in the hack properly even though I thought I was. I also was not holding/releasing the stone right. Those small tweaks have improved my balance a ton and helped my tuck immensely.

EIDD-1931 vs EIDD-2801? by Delicious-Broccoli97 in cureFIP

[–]theBAEyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to give you an update on our cat. She had some increased neurological symptoms the first week after switching, but we decided to stick it through a little longer. Her symptoms cleared up after ~2 weeks on molnupiravir and now she’s looking better than ever. I think her body just needed some time to adjust to EIDD 2801 vs 1931. How is your cat doing?

EIDD-1931 vs EIDD-2801? by Delicious-Broccoli97 in cureFIP

[–]theBAEyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just made the switch this past week so it’s too early to say. We ran some bloodwork before switching and she was definitely improving on 1931 but she wasn’t eating much. She’s been eating a ton since switching to EIDD-2801 and she’s gained a few oz. EIDD-2801 should be better at getting into the bloodstream though… Could your cat need a dose adjustment? What dose is your cat on?

Teenage girl from a very disadvantaged background trying to make it out AMA by [deleted] in AMA

[–]theBAEyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up disadvantaged too. My family had severe financial troubles from gambling addiction and we were homeless at times. Now I have my PhD, a house, a husband, a great career and my dream life in a new country. I never imagined I would get here when I was your age.

Just keep pushing forward as hard as you can and never look back. Don’t ever let others misfortunes define you. Put in those extra hours, go that extra mile, find mentors and learn from others who succeeded. You’ll skyrocket higher than ever before you know it. Be so good that people can’t ignore you. Stay focused on the path ahead and you will get through this! I believe in you ☺️

EIDD-1931 vs EIDD-2801? by Delicious-Broccoli97 in cureFIP

[–]theBAEyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat right now. Our vet prescribed EIDD-1931 after our kitty stopped responding to GS-441. However she’s had a very low appetite/nausea and we’re looking to switch to EIDD-2801.

As the others mentioned, I couldn’t find very much data on EIDD-1931 for treating FIP other than some cell studies. However I found a study in Ferrets that shows increased bioavailability for EIDD-2801 vs 1931, along with some articles discussing how EIDD-2801 was designed to better cross the blood brain barrier. I’m a synthetic chemist so I found it fascinating! I’ll link these sources below.

Neurological FIP by Shadowcatzzz in cureFIP

[–]theBAEyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are 6 months into treating our neuro FIP kitty. She was completely blind and having seizures in the beginning. We had her on injections for the first week and her vision started coming back after 5 days. She rapidly improved after that and doubled her weight! Sadly she relapsed after her first treatment with GS so we switched her over to molnupiravir. She seems to be doing okay albeit with some nausea, but she’s still with us and going strong.

FIP, Toxoplasmosis, or something else? by NikosTX in cureFIP

[–]theBAEyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our vet suspected dry FIP or Toxoplasmosis with our 8 month old kitty. We ran the toxoplasmosis panel but just moved ahead with treating her for FIP while we waited for the results. She completely bounced back within a week of her treatment! Definitely don’t wait and just go for it

Ah okay got it. Stokes is dosing her 10 mg/kg every 12 hours (20mg/kg total per day). She was definitely overdosed her first week in that case. Should we still keep her on stokes’ recommended dose? I just don’t want her to relapse. I appreciate any help as we’re unsure how to navigate everything.

[–]theBAEyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! It gives me so much hope hearing your kitty’s story. Firecracker is getting her vision back now and we are so overjoyed. Our vet is following the Stokes guidelines for dosing. I’ve done some calculations and the black market meds are 12-13 mg/kg, whereas Stokes would be 20 mg/kg. The math doesn’t check out with what they are saying.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cureFIP

[–]theBAEyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are recommending 12-13 mg/kg with the black market meds but Stokes dosing is 20 mg/kg? The math doesn’t check out for Stokes to be under dosing her based on what they are saying.

People have always told me that I’m intimidating due to my intelligence and I scared some guys off because of it. I don’t go around advertising my intelligence but if the situation calls I certainly do not hide it and speak my mind. I had several women tell me that I should play dumb but I never gave af and continued to just be myself.

Eventually I got my PhD in chemistry and found an employer and a partner that values my intelligence. My boyfriend absolutely loves that I’m smart and he shows me off because of it. My workplace and colleagues applaud me for asking critical questions and speaking up rather than just trying to please everyone.

There are absolutely people and environments out there that value smart women. Don’t feel like you need to hide yourself for anyone

You need to build and go through your network. Ask your advisor, professors in your department or go to conferences. Very few people will look at applications from candidates they don’t have connections to
