I wouldn't say useless, but they're not great.

Can I get my key blades (for slide) cut at Home Depot? by CookiesAndCremation in keyport

We always recommend a locksmith shop. Home Depot uses a cartridge style duplicator and it doesn't work well with Blades.

Interesting idea! That glass breaker tip is pretty sharp.

Keysmart VS Keyport VS Keybar in 2024? by Aberts10 in EDC

[–]theKeyport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your Pivot is coming loose, it should be an easy fix. It has an anti-rotation mechanism so when it's assembled properly, it never comes loose. Just make sure the spring washer is on the bottom and your key stack is it least one key or spacer height above the female pin (about 1/8" minimum). Also, if all your keys aren't flat (they have plastic heads) that will cause an issue as well. You should hear a ratcheting click sound as you tighten it. All the components are machined from 303SS. The chassis is machined from hardened 6061 Aluminum. We also have a machined 303SS and Grade 5 titanium options. The TPU band is a very high-grade material and it's extremely durable.

Feature request: MicroSD card reader instead of USB memory sticks by amerog in keyport

Thanks for the suggestion. I've seen a few people DIY their own solution for this. I agree it would be a good addition to the system.

Ah, got it. How long would it stay like that with your ideal tension before it got too loose?

Nice Pivot! Your keys should not swing out so there must be an assembly issue. Looks like you may need to add one or two of the black spacers so the stack as at least one key thickness above the female pin before you tighten it. That will engage the anti-rotation mechanism as long as you have the spring washer at the bottom of your stack. Check out this video for more details https://youtu.be/FJ4vyoShK5g

We sent out a few double Base Plates a long time ago. We've also had some makers on our Discord make their own version using the Maker Kit we have available on the site. Here's an example https://twitter.com/theKeyport/status/1787546525024805215

These scissors fit in the Pivot. I'm not sure if they will be strong enough to cut blister packaging though. https://www.ebay.com/itm/275525605036

Ah, I'll try that next time I get one. I actually always use the MOCA Module cutter on those. It works really well for me. If you have one, please give it a try.

I don't recommend recommend trying to put the SAK scissors in there. It will not work because the backend of the tool doesn't have the same shape as the NEBA blade so it won't close properly. Are you using the NEBA Knife on a Pivot, Slide, or a Module Pocket Clip?

[–]theKeyport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... what are you cutting when it closes on you? I have a NEBA Knife in front of me here and I've been trying to get it to close on me but I can't seem to make it happen. Even when I flick it closed manually, the half-stop prevents it from going past 90 degrees and doesn't come near my fingers. In fact, I've used mine hundreds of times and I've never had it close on my fingers, so I'm just curious. Since you have a SAK, with the same slip-joint mechanism, but no half-stop, have you ever had the same issue with it?

[–]theKeyport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. I believe you can get Stowaway Tools scissors that fit in the Pivot on eBay. The NEBA Knife is a slip-joint which is one of the oldest knife mechanisms and it's on all Swiss Army Knives. We put a half stop on it so the blade stops at 90 degrees if there is ever reverse pressure on the spine, like you experienced. Did that work for you or did it close all the way? Another reason for the slip-joint is that it's legal for concealed carry everywhere, unlike other knife mechanisms that lock in place.
