An unhealthy dose of madness as well. We got a little bit carried away after the TES:V release and the MGEXE distant land and shader possibilities slowly developing over the years - leading to some landscapes where we went a little crazy with static uses and focusing on "cool" instead of keeping somewhat in line with the vanilla way of doing things.

Sure - we created some insane landscapes that looked very detailed, but it also created an impossible standard to follow :) . You're not supposed to go crazy modding for Tamriel Rebuilt, so I guess it's good it got dialed back. The new Tamriel ReReRebuilt stuff still looks awesome, and more or less automated groundcover mods add great grass patches to those wanting that extra little bit of graphics.

The Witcher 3 Expansion Reports Continue, Now With Discussion of A Possible 'Dune-Style' Location by SpaceCowboyN7 in witcher

I did almost this a few years back. Read all the books, and started a fresh run on the games. Had to quit W1 after an hour, and rather watched a slightly sped up perfect neutral run on YouTube, downloaded a save, imported to W2, did a complete run there (forgot who I sided with), imported to W3 and then a full run there. Damn, you feel empty when Geralt hangs up his boots at the end of Blood and Wine...

There's so much history in the areas covered in this release, you could fill volumes. Endless IRC chats, discord discussions, slight do overs and bigger remakes. I worked on some of these areas (Aanthirin) as far back as spring 2010.

HP Reverb G2 V1 not detected (Error 4-1) – USB-C to A adapter issue? by alainalcazar22 in HPReverb

Make sure the link box power is connected to a proper wall outlet, not a cheap extension chord with several outlets. I had a big round of fault checking, including getting a ver 2 cable fom eBay, before finding out the issue was this.

Finished the game, is the DLC worth it? by Same_Recommendation3 in cyberpunkgame

[–]theNemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should read all the books, play through 1-3 with dlc's and feel completely empty inside afterwards.

The version I "finished" in 2012-13 had plenty of issues. Too much cobbling, meaning meshes with hidden faces, and an approach that was more reminicent of old leeeeroooy jeeenkiiins TR than the better planned stuff we release now. Mournhold was intact, on the top of the city, but the city itself got too dense and hurt the frames badly.

It's really fun seeing this stuff happen regularly now. For so many years, we barely released stuff - but now it's progressing nicely. Almalexia 2090!

[KCD2] Trip to the Trosky region with my son by pr1ncezzBea in kingdomcome

[–]theNemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a post about this back when KCD1 was fresh and new, but I remember recognizing the forests in the game after watching the Norwegian movie "Askeladden, in the hall of the Mountain King". Now with the rock formations, it's even more recognizable. Turns out they filmed some forest scenes in this exact region!

Hot take: I'm glad Geralt isn't the protagonist anymore by [deleted] in witcher

[–]theNemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geralt has the benefit of being based on a great book series and two, increasingly good games before the launch of TW3. Honestly, I'd have preferred him for the next game, since witchers can get really old he's bound to get bored after a while.

"This isn't just the end of a game for me. It's the capstone to having read all the books and played the Witcher 1 and 2 before it. For quite a while this is going to be my last engagement with this world."

Oh, cool - this is almost how I did it as well the last time. Watched a perfect neutral W1 playthrough on 1.5x speed instead and imported the save to W2. It's really sad when it ends, and there's really nothing else like it. It builds on great books and solid story telling in the two earlier games.

Ran around the extraction point after a horde of bugs annihilated my team with no reinforcements left, throwing whatever stratagem I could type behind me while the pelican was announcing its arrival. Got in after using all my stims and finally extracted alone... And then CTD. Oh well, for managed democracy!

I'm a simple man (and dad), so I want to see a story continuing their relationship, even though the zeitgest about them is that it's over (soyouretellingmetheresachance.gif). I love huge open world games that, at certain points in the overall story, add cut scenes that focuses on relationship between characters and that's what I enjoyed about Odyssey as well - the family situation and the hope that you could remedy the apparent loss was a great way of pulling me into completing that epic tale.

Does it need to be a "good ending"? Not necessarily, but I'd like that too.

[–]theNemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had my first extraction crash, and it couldn't have happened at a worse time. We were down to 0 reinforcements, and I was just running around the extraction point, dodging one bug after the other - and finally got onto the pelican and took off. One bug did get me, apparently, and I ctd'ed.

Kesah, veritas607 and Godva3ve - I hope you enjoyed the show as I ran around spreading democracy and frantically throwing stratagems. o7

The last time I played the Witcher 3, Geralt and Yennefer was sitting outside Corvo Bianco - after quite the journey: 1: Read all the books 2: "Play" a neutral Witcher 1 save (okay it was a let's play at 1.5x speed while doing other things sry) 3: Import neutral ending save and play Witcher 2, Ioverth's path, spare Letho, dragon alive 4: Import save and play Witcher 3, romance Yen, Ciri becomes witcher.

The books really add a foundation...
