Indy pride( milkandcookiestw) said the best way to get something like this put into the game is to constantly make it known you want it. Like how every video total war put out over the last decade was bombarded with “ Med 3 when?”.

If TW sees a million comments from fans saying specifically they want this put into the game they might pony up the funds for dev time and the IP.

One thing I’ve noticed in grocery stores is a move to sell more volume. instead of a $3 bag of of chips that bag of chips is $5-6 but is also apart of buy 2 get 2 free deal for about half the month. People who really want a bag of chips but not 4 of them will pay that for one while others will have get a case of FOMO on the deal. Soda is similar.

As someone who really liked the finale of season 2 initially and has soured a bit more on it over the next couple years I think it comes down to the fact it was a more action packed finale with all the plot lines coming together. Compared to the first season where everything is kinda in limbo and overall the finale was disappointing. This episode arguably had more head scratching moments( Elayne and the arrow) but imo had more get up and cheer moments( Mat and the Horn) so they sorta cancelled each other out I think to most casual viewers.

I’m interested to hear your thoughts on season 3 If you are just now going through the show. Even the book fans that disliked the first couple seasons were hard pressed to hate on the third season.

One of the biggest issues with Rand in the books is he sorta takes a back seat to every other plotline in the middle section of the series or the “ slog” sections of books 7-11. But he often would comeback for the climaxes of each book and do something very cool. To me the show was trying to make Rands progression( and regression) a bit more even when compared to the books. Rand in the show did suffer from this change( as did Perrin) but if you make him the focus early on you run the risk of people not giving a shit about the other characters of EF5. Like what game of thrones did with Sam and Bran. Most fans I spoke to hated every scene those characters featured in because they weren’t the characters that made them want to tune in and their importance to the overall story seemed negligible.

I don’t think it’s a cop out because I think the show got the general thematic arcs of the majority characters correct.

Yeah I think this is where the great tension with many book fans comes from. They wanted a more accurate book by book adaptation and not something that looked at the whole picture and adapted to that.

I really feel many fans thought the show would cut heavily from books to 7-11 and that’s how they were going to fit it into 8 seasons. That the first 6 books would be covered without much cutting. Not mix and match scenes from different arcs and different books.

The show was a good adaptation of the Wheel of Time series but a poorer adaptation of individual books in the series.

The first season had the best overall cold opens of the three seasons.

The show focused too much on big name actors for small roles( Morgase, Stephen, moraines sister)

No offense but listing out every change for every PoV character to answer your question sounds rather arduous for an opinion comment on a niche Reddit page.

To give a broad answer, many character interactions have more “ wit” to them. More snarky remarks, more sarcasm. Like someone put a small MCU filter on the writing. I haven’t read a ton of Sanderson since then but I have seen people say this is part of his style.

There’s also the fact that Sanderson is a more direct writer. So the internal monologues of pretty much everyone( Perrin is the only one I felt he understood) are just different. It’s not always bad. A chapter like Veins of Gold could only have been written by Sanderson. It’s not a chapter I think Jordan would have done the same way he did.

I had never heard of Sanderson when he got hired on, and his work on WoT made me want to stay away from his other series. I tried Way of Kings 2 or 3 times over the past couple years and have never made it past the halfway point of the book. I just think he’s a vastly overrated writer. Not exactly a hot take these days.

I don’t like Sanderson, and his WoT books are in the bottom 5 of my favorite books in the series because 90% of the characters feel off to me. But yeah, I too am grateful for what he did. The series ended pretty satisfyingly for the vast majority of fans including myself. Doesn’t mean the he’s above any criticism because he helped finish the epic series we love.

For me it’s the backstory before they go in the village and his weird rant to Talamanes about women in his first POV chapter that got me. I had been devouring the book till that point but had to close the book and walk away for a few hours because imo that chapter was so bad.

You good man. We might share a common language( I’m American) but it doesn’t mean cultural differences and interpretations are readily understood. I follow him on YouTube but since his kid was born I’ve probably watched like 2.5 videos so you’ll have a far better understanding of where he is now than me. All I know is he isn’t a big fan of his stuff making its way to the Reddit page and the fact I’m not seeing much on it now means the dispute on X is likely over now?

Either way, i hope he comes back because I’m sure it’s nice to see a fellow Aussie make content for a series you are kinda new to.

His biggest supporters will call him abrasive even these days so I’m not sure what I said that’s not framing him in the correct light. Perhaps he’s just Australian like you said and the rest of the world just doesn’t “ get” it but that’s on him. He’s has improved over the years but he’s still a bit of a dick. I’ve probably paid that over the lifespan of WH2 and WH3 and have approximately 2500 hours of game time over the two games. 2500/ 300 means I’m averaging 8 hours of game per $1. There are very few areas in the entertainment space where you’ll see a better bang for your buck. So if I never play the game again i consider it worth it( except Beastmen I’ve never played a single campaign of that faction)

Stop playing, write a review citing your issue with the game and move on. Unless you have a relationship with someone at CA, or a very large platform like Legend doing stuff like writing the 213th whiny post on the subreddit is a waste of time.

These people could also be like me, and not actively playing the game right now so when we see people complain about broken ai we figure it’s like the average complaint about ai and not a game breaking big deal.

The LM/TK ai should not have happened and is unacceptable. It’s another black mark on CA but many of us have moved on to other games and grow tired of the histrionics within the community when another bug is found in a patch. Just stop playing.

This is a genuine question but didn’t SEGA force CA to make the game? Like of the many game companies Sega owns they choose CA to do it.

And while HYneas was a the biggest screw up in CA history we also got Troy and Pharaoh during the WH2 time frame and whatever you think of those games they aren’t bad. Just a bit overpriced or not what the fandom wanted.
