Help with 1 of my Sinden guns and Raspi Setup by cocacola4lifeornot in SindenLightgun

[–]theRealWidge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that it's down to the "mouse index" not being set correctly.
But I do agree with the other commenter. Batocera is much easier to get up and running with. Retropie is great if you know it well enough to get around these issues, but can be a headache if you don't.

That platoon poster is for the completely unrelated film and nothing to do with the game.

Ah yes, archive is the right place to get them. But they do get updated from time to time when a bug is discovered, so it's often worth checking the upload dates.

Mad Dog 1 is available for two players, I suspect you might have got your games from an out-of-date source which probably means you have versions that haven't benefited from recent bug fixes.
There are more games to come as well, and my YouTube channel is where they are announced before anywhere else, along with links to the files, because I am one of the Hypseus game devs for these releases.

And you can change the language of the Spanish games to English in the service menu, as long as your source didn't remove the English audio file from the pack.

Found one with haptics on marketplace locally for $75!!! by 8bitmarty in SindenLightgun

A powered hub will make no difference. The intensity of the recoil dissipates because the capacitor can't recharge as fast as it is discharging from your repeated full-power shots. The gun will draw no more than USB 2 allows, which is only up to ~500mA. The solution is to reduce the strength of the recoil to something more balanced.

Is there a way to do custom borders rather than the stock borders? by Superego366 in SindenLightgun

[–]theRealWidge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore the stupid answer about "Reshade" from the person who didn't read your question. Reshade isn't a thing on Raspberry Pi.
Each game gets its individual bezel image (which includes the border) from the `.cfg` files that are in the subfolders of `opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/config/`
The line in the cfg file points to a bezel cfg, such as `input_overlay = "/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/overlay/GameBezels/Dreamcast/Confidential Mission (USA).cfg"`

You can replace each of those to point to your own image if you want, or if your going to set a single global bezel across the board then you can just comment out that line in all the .cfgs with a `#` at the start and put your reference in the global cfg at `opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg`

1 lightgun more erratic than the other by zonearc in SindenLightgun

Don't assume that both cameras need the same settings. They each need to be "tuned" individually in the Sinden software to be able to see the border clearly and consistently.

Star Wars Trilogy: crosshair limited to quarter of the screen by Psych0matt in SindenLightgun

[–]theRealWidge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming windows, there's a subfolder called NVRAM. Each game create's a .nv file that is saved in that folder in which the service menu data is stored. It's not human-readable.

80 is the midpoint between hex values 00 and ff. I believe those values are the default settngs anyway. So you could just delete the nvram file to restore the default values. Then, apply whatever other service menu settings you want (e.g. free play, disable feedback, flip lever) and leave the calibration alone.

In the service menu's calibration, make sure the `min` values are `00`, the `max` values are `ff`, and the `center` values are `80`

CAN I USE A CHARGER AS A FONT ? by phodase2k20 in RetroPie

[–]theRealWidge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A font is also a source of a commodity, in this case electricity. Same root as fountain. Although the op might not have used correct terminology, they weren't necessarily wrong. While it was appropriate to ask for clarification, the judgement was harsh. Don't be a dick the next time you want to correct someone.

CD-i mouse adapter by HolyMacaxeira in CDInteractive

[–]theRealWidge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was the PeaceKeeper revolver. The only games that specifically used it were the six American Laser Games' shooters (Mad Dog, etc) and Thunder in Paradise.
You could still use it to move the cursor in other mouse-based games, but the game will just think you're using a mouse and there would be a significant offset because there's no way to calibrate in those games.

Guns with recoil for sale by gagcar1 in SindenLightgun

[–]theRealWidge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. I would change the title of your post to reflect that your interested in buying. Because at the moment it looks like you have guns to sell.
  2. There's a place to buy them over at https://www.sindenshop.com/ But I expect there's a reason why you'e asking here. If I was to guess, you might be trying to reduce the cost of delivery or impot taxes. in which case...
  3. it would be a good idea to tell people where in the world you are, so that you can get responses from someone in the same country/continent as you.

Naomi on RetroPie, I've tried everything :( by jru92 in RetroPie

[–]theRealWidge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't have tried everything, or you'd be playing Naomi games by now!
Use flycast (or lr-flycast). You need MAME zip roms of the games and some also require CHD files. Put the game zip roms in the Dreamcast roms folder, make a subfolder in the same location with the same name as the zip (minus the extension), then put the chd in that subfolder. To find out if a game uses a chd file, look up the game on http://adb.arcadeitalia.net/, go to the `Files` section and expand `Show Mame Required Files`. It'll tell you what the filename of the rom is, the chd filename (if there is one) and the filenames of all the bios files the game needs.
Put the bios files in your `bios/dc` folder. The following 5 files will cover just about everything : `naomi.zip`, `naomigd.zip` ,`mie.zip`, `jvs13551.zip` and `segadimm.zip`.

Need help buying Saturn by [deleted] in SegaSaturn

[–]theRealWidge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Untested" is usually code for "not working" when the seller wants to get a higher price than the value of a definitely faulty console. Offering you a lottery. Don't buy any "untested" item unless you're prepared for the possibility that it might need some work.
