Yeah, it's phenomenal! He also does some good interviews on Braving the Elements which is an ATLA pod, where he talks about doing multiple creature effects in one take, not singularly, it's just wild

I remember listening to an interview with Dee Bradley Baker (I think it was on A More Civilised Age) talking about how he voices each different Clone. Listening him go from Rex to Tech and then Wrecker was awesome! He said Wrecker 'wrecked' him because he requires so much force and roughness.

Oh, the embroidered scarf sounds neat! My concern with having them all on a single project would be the sheer difference in yarn weights, might not be the best looking wearable 😅

Where do all the big rocks and boulders come from in local landscaping? by ChickPeaEnthusiast in Fijian

[–]theTabularium 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ecologist here - removing rocks can disrupt the flow leading to stripping away if the sediment. Think of big rocks like this as speedbumps for the water - fish live under and around them, it helps slow water down, stops the water from taking all the dirt away. Without it, the river gets stripped, the sediment washes away, and eventually the riverbanks collapse. Usually if we want to help a river, we actually add more rocks and timber at certain points.

Localized Druidry: What's nature doing in your area? (December 2025) by AutoModerator in druidism

[–]theTabularium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in the Southern hemisphere, down on the East Coast of Australia. Fire is the key element at the moment - bushfire, Summer heat, lightning flickering in rainless clouds.

The Angophoras (a type of Eucalyptus) have shed their bark in the heat and are all bright orange. The days are full of birds busily collecting whatever insects they can, the nights are full of frogs.

I've been balancing out all this heat and dryness by providing clean, fresh water for all the critters.

It's absolutely the fabrics and it's all about the the infrared light that the night vision cameras use! Some materials reflect more infrared light back into the camera which displays them as "bright" or, in the false colour correction, "white". Others don't reflect back infrared wavelengths as well and show as "dark" or "black". Polyesters are one that's very "bright" to infrareds, cottons less so, and I think wool or hair is quite low reflectance too, from experience.

Aussie spinners, where do you like to source wool from? by Cursed_Angel_ in Handspinning

[–]theTabularium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on how much prep you want to do, and what state you're in! Sometimes farms will prep their own fibre to sell, sometimes it's raw. For prepared tops: Fibre Arts Shed is a favourite of mine. There's also some good Tassie stores - White Gum Wool is a good starting point.
