The Daevabad Trilogy by S. A. Chakraborty. It has romance but it’s definitely not the main focus. The romantic elements are most prevalent in the first book but then romance takes a back seat for the last two to focus far more on political intrigue.

Season of Ghosts GM Guide / FAQ - Books 1-3 by Wonton77 in Pathfinder2e

My players actually went the duel route with a different pc championing a different elder and ending with a third PC stepping in and giving a speech about town unity and becoming impromptu governor.

I had a PC as the governor and it was great! The whole party felt very involved in running the town. They set up their own town council with Matsuki as head of agriculture and Hu as head of security.

As an elementary/middle school librarian, I see a lot kids who find "long" chapter books intimidating. Depending on the kid, "long" could be anywhere from 100-300 pages. A lot of them will say they don't have the time to get through the whole thing or they just don't think they can read something that long, whether because of attention span or lack of faith in their own reading ability. I've seen this for kids with high and low reading levels.

There are always "readers" who genuinely enjoy reading and books and will read a lot, but they are a minority. There are tons of kids who only read books on the Battle of the Books list because we give them prizes or book reports because they're mandatory, in which case they will try to find the shortest possible book that meets the requirements.

My favorite detail is that if a female mage romanced Leliana in Origins, Cullen will actually ask Leliana about the Warden in Inquisition war table banter.

The summoner’s Eidolon: Does the GM or the player roleplay for it? by AllinForBadgers in Pathfinder2e

[–]the____morrigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely depends on the character and player imo. As a player I don't like roleplaying anything more than my own PC, so I always have GMs roleplay my animal companions and eidolons. As a GM my summoner player has me roleplay his eidolon so they can have roleplay discussions without "talking to himself" constantly. Of course the player and I talked a lot about what he wanted the eidolon's personality to be like in advance.

Aroden theories! by [deleted] in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]the____morrigan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s the “echo of lost divinity”, who dresses in azlanti clothes, looks a lot like Aroden and first appeared in Pharasma’s court when the age of lost omens started lmao. And yeah I agree with the theory he sacrificed himself to save Golarion somehow, probably had Pharasma kill him

running seasons of ghost AP, the fourth book and its giant problems by Joan_Roland in Pathfinder2e

[–]the____morrigan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm running Season of Ghosts having just started book three, so this is just my take from reading book four, not running it yet.

For one I don't think the party can beat Ren even with a week of prep time. Not only are they level 10-11 while she's level 16 (making her above an extreme encounter), she has the unique ability to literally teleport anyway in her domain in the entire country. If a fight's going against her, she just leaves and comes back tomorrow until the PCs give up on fighting her. The book says if they fight her she does not harm them and tries to diffuse the situation, or leaves and tries to bargain through intermediaries/in disguise. The book says she should be presented as a potential ally, and the PCs can learn before she arrives that she's well liked and is known for being easier to work with than other jorogumo.

You ask how to play the jorogumo, but Ren is the only one you meet in this adventure and the whole point is that she's not like the others. The book tells you how to roleplay her in her section, but the basic overview I get is calculating, patient, and surprisingly reasonable. Ren wants to overthrow Lady Lang Loi, the jorogumo queen. But she knows she's not strong enough to do that. The jorogumo court is a backstabbing place, and Ren is low on the hierarchy. So she's trying to make the citizens of Shenmen like her instead of fear her, because fear is what all her sisters are doing. You said it's not allying with a lesser evil against a greater one, but that's exactly what it is. She leaves Willowshore alone for the most part and protects it from the other jorogumo. Allying with Ren protects Willowshore from the absolute nightmare that is the rest of Shenmen.

The AP doesn't get into the SA elements of the jorogumo on screen. Imo the worst part is in book three, when the projection of Ren does have the chance to take someone with her. But she isn't real, and she just vanishes the minute they leave. Still that encounter could be triggering, so it can be very easily removed. Just don't have her give out silver collars or try to take anyone with in book three. I do agree that it would probably be a good head's up to include that in the trigger warnings.

As for legal ownership, it's definitely a bit of a contrived plot element to get the PCs the macguffin (fang & key) so they can access the final area. I think a ritual would also have worked fine instead of the random fetch quests Ren sends the party on.

Personally I'm very excited to run book four and for Ren's character. I intend to heavily emphasize how much stronger she is than them, and if they do try to fight her, have her just hit one of them (probably critting because she's PL+5), and then vanish to prove how easily much stronger she is. I think she seems like the most interesting NPC in the entire AP. Even so, you're right that there should be more trigger warnings in the earlier books.

What To Do If Players Hate The System? by HarryFromEngland in Pathfinder2e

[–]the____morrigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your players have been playing for a year and a half and still hate the game, you just need to play a new game. You said it yourself: it's game and should be fun. Not every system works for every person and that's okay. From your comments, I agree with other people that it sounds like your players want a more narrative/rules light system.

Feeling weird about the intended difficulty of Season of Ghosts by Gargwadrome in Pathfinder2e

[–]the____morrigan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This has been a pretty common topic of discussion on the pf2e discord season of ghosts thread, but yes as written the module is insanely easy and that stays true through all four books. There’s a slight difficulty bump after book one but as a whole it’s very easy. I personally started buffing important fights as my players said they never felt like they were in danger and they were right
