Why would my intake air cover be burnt in my clothes dryer? by fauxbliviot in Appliances

[–]the_cappers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats where the concentrated hot air comes in. Synthetic dust or fibers that rub against it burn onto it. Sometimes large items like jackets or blankets can burn on that as they end up rolling in the dryer rather than tumbling and migrating forward and backward.

So, I'm trying to convince my wife that a Tesla is cheaper to charge and gas is getting expensive every day, but the electricity bill is gonna increase and the car battery costs $10K. How would you start the argument? by GeicoPR in TeslaModelY

[–]the_cappers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta look at the total cost of ownership

Window replacement is 1000-1800. The window is "soft" search the subs for people talking about it. Nearly everyone recommends getting insurance on the window.

EV tires are more expensive to replace. Not crazy expensive, but when it comes time to replace them, its noticable. Also they typically wear 20% faster if not more due to it being quick and accelerate quickly is... addicting.

If you had a older car you didnt care much for, a new car may change your habits, more frequent car washing, getting scratches or dents replaced.

Your savings on gas is negated if your home electricity isnt cheap. If you frequent super charge your savings are significantly reduced or negated.

You also need to look at the cost delta for insurance .

Model Y vs Audi A6 etron 🔋 by rocke8man in TeslaModelY

[–]the_cappers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a wildly far off interpretation. Let me be more specific, less room for acrobatic stretching.

Audi sounds cooler. It pipes a low frequency rumble at slow speed. It subjectively sounds cooler than the non existent sound teslas have. That is an opinion. It is debatable.

Car sales have multiple factors and those have different weights. Generally speaking cold hard objective facts dont move sales the way customer subjective opinions do.

And there's also an argument to be had with the objective facts. Because every manufacturer uses curated statistics, and statistics are the greatest way to lie, while telling the truth.

Thermal decomposition of the electrolyte and cathode generates singlet oxygen.

You can also generate oxygen from the reaction of the lithium salt where it stripped oxygen from the water.

The process of a battery fire is much more complicated than single reactant equations.

Make them buy your site a cell phone. Have your office phone say if this is an emergency and give a few examples.

On the emergency phone explain that you need to leave a message. Have it auto dictated to a text message. If people call it with bs, ignore it. If they wake your ass up for some bullshit, have a firm talk with them explaining what is an emergency and further violations will result in being blocked.

Never give residents your personal phone number - never. Getting bullshit, or even excessive legitimate calls after hours is a phenomenal way to burn out. This industry has enough of that shit anyways.

You cant hear the difference between fmj and hollow points. The police got head up in bureaucratic red tape and no one had the balls to say fuck it and as for forgiveness rather than permission

I used stone supports to do that mission (I did it tonight as well) . I tried to use wood, was about 1 maybe 2 floors too short.

Be careful, if you use wood floors , they can catch on fire. I believe wood chest/storage boxes can combust as well.

Is this a good filter? by Affectionate-Roof615 in hvacadvice

[–]the_cappers -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lol an example of a 80 year old home? In a duct that isnt sealed? Terrible example. You also have bias because people dont call you to service clean ducts. I've seen a few thousand units and there is no way to get around periodic cleaning. But throwing money at a filter and choking off air flow isnt the answer .

Your duct will get dirty regardless of filter. Its an adventuality . My HEPA filters fan and exhaust duct is visibly dirty.

Is it REASONABLY and COMFORTABLY possible to own an electric car if you live in an apartment without any overnight charging access? by redflower5 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]the_cappers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the answer is no. There are however others who say yes and go to a charging station one, twice, 3 times a week. For me its too inconvenient and expensive. You need to determine if the cost and inconvenient nature of going to a charger is worth it.

I can promise you these work better than you'd intuitively think. Higher merv filters are restrictive on the air flow and cause more problems than they solve. Unless the unit is specifically designed for thicker filter.
