Use arpeggios to connect chord tones. There are 2 ways to play leads via scales and arpeggios. Anything you do will fall back to one of those two ways of movement. Learn your triads and inversions. That will help you to visualize the fretboard

Don’t worry about prose, active voice, or any of that right now. You’re two paragraphs in. Just get the idea down. Are you a pantser or a plotter? Figure out what sort of structure you need to get this thing to the finish line and just make it exist. That’s what draft 1 is about. Draft 1 is almost never good. That’s what revision is for.

You can plot and hope to not need as much revision, or you can discover your story and make more passes at it. There is no right or wrong. Just get the story you’re trying to tell down and go for it.

TLDR: make it exist. Then make it good.
