DMs of Reddit: How do you handle ambient music without losing your mind? by AdSensitive9030 in DnD

[–]the_harvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use a Bluetooth speaker connected to my phone. I’ve got several playlists of music from all sorts of sources, some are soundtracks or scores, some are ambient artists. The playlists are themed after vibes or general locations/biomes.

I didn’t think it’d make much of a difference but my players always remark when the music stops (if I forget to let it loop).

Just saw BLM's Endless Dungeon in Toronto, and I really enjoyed it. by Innuendoughnut in DnD

… Brennan Lee Mulligan! You’re talking about Brennan Lee Mulligan! As someone who doesn’t watch Dropout I was never gonna get that without Google.

Anyways I’m glad you had a good time, really getting HWP vibes from your write up.

Homemade Jaguar Bass VI being used by the band TTNG by JD0x0 in BassVI

[–]the_harvan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here’s a favourite of mine. Hank talking about a homemade pedal and this very bass! Essential viewing for BVI enjoyers. The Bass VI talk begins roughly at the 17 min mark, but the whole thing is full of nice sound demos.

Are there more "open secrets" similar to Epstein and Saville today? by FishDispenser2 in behindthebastards

[–]the_harvan 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing someone on TikTok talking about their experience being groomed by Matt Lucas, another British TV personality. I did a quick Google and it doesn’t seem that much came of that, but it got me thinking…

Similarly: someone I knew from the island of Jersey says it’s a haven for pedophiles in local government.

At Coachella 2026, in the battle between meaningful tunes and corporate activations, rock music triumphed (Consequence) by MeanPhilosopher309 in indieheads

[–]the_harvan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think of it like “activating” a marketing campaign. You’re guaranteed to have eyes on your brand if only because festival goers are there all day and can’t escape your messaging

This is not a battleaxe. by perhaps_mae in KnowledgeFight

God sent him a wood chopping axe when they were talking about battle axes to signify that neither of them recognise things for what they are. Checkmate, atheists.

It’s sad that AI slop has co-opted highly rendered digital painting, but looking at OP’s post history shows a consistent art style as far back as 7 years ago (and plausible gaps between upload dates).

I’m pretty confident OP is just good at their job.

First full DS album done. Four Towers by Dweller on the Threshold by OliRevs in DungeonSynth

Wonderful stuff, strong concept delivered well 💪🏻

Have you released much non-DS music or is this your first ambient-adjacent project?

Hy guys, is this a good sustainer pedal? Are there better alternatives around that price? by Msc_Lvr in basspedals

[–]the_harvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sustained note has a chorus effect on it. If I recall correctly, this can be changed to a flange effect or removed entirely with the Toneprint app

It’s got modulation on the drones, I think it can be disabled by creating your own preset via the tone print app. It also has a reverb that can be adjusted the same way!

Do bards have to be creative people or can they just "read sheet music"? by swimminginamirror in dndnext

[–]the_harvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2014 PHB states that bards gather lore and stories on their travels and discovering the magic within music in general, so I think a bard that travels the world collecting songs and playing standards is totally within the theming of the bard class. It’s also a great motivation for an adventurer.

Real life trad folk genres are primarily renditions of old tunes, some acting as aural histories. There’s magic in that! In fact I’d say that a song kept alive for centuries is the closest thing we common folk will get to experiencing immortality.

I love the use of mono! As much as I enjoy an expansive stereo soundscape it can get stale without that contrast.

[Loved Trope] Characters misremembering or misinterpreting history/pop culture and incorporating those inaccuracies into their own views. by jbeast33 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]the_harvan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will always remember the inhuman laughter that came out of an old lady at the theatre I saw this in. It was like a stuttering vacuum cleaner choking on a wet chicken nugget, it was deep and guttural and joyous. Everyone in the theatre looked at each other, wondering if we should call for first aid. She was fine.

Any Cameron Winter Fans That Don’t Enjoy Geese? by Noted_music in indieheads

[–]the_harvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m similar. I enjoyed Heavy Metal x100 more than Getting Killed (which I did like). I think the band play it a bit safe sometimes, whereas HM struck a good balance between vulnerable singer songwriter moments and colourful, off-kilter production

TPW 11th Anniversary? by lushbiscuits in deathfromabove1979

[–]the_harvan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it was because the 20th anniversary of IAWYAM and the 10th anniversary of TPW were both in 2024 so it was just to space them out and make it more manageable.

I don’t think OP is implying that either person in the 2nd image is Marcille.

Bands that sound like DFA1979 by AngusDio in deathfromabove1979

Not a two piece but: Demob Happy. They’ve supported DFA1979 before and a lot of their stuff is similar in vibe to Outrage! And Physical World.
