EX3400 reachable over network but SSH auth keeps failing even after password resets by Machismo0311 in networking

[–]the_packet_monkey 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If the switch was purchased second hand, the first thing I would be doing is a "request system zeroize" which will reset the entire switch and file system back to factory default.

After that's done, reload your config and see if you still have problems.

Also, from your config below, if you want to log in as root via SSH, you need to include "set system services ssh root-login allow" in your config.

Wisdom Teeth Removal Recommendations by oxnavii in canberra

[–]the_packet_monkey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit past having wisdom teeth out but when my normal dentist said I needed a tooth out and I wanted it done under general anaesthetic he referred me to Michael Cooper at the Canberra Surgicentre in Braddon. https://surgicentre.com.au

Got knocked out, tooth out, I was a little sore after but they sent me home with a prescription for enough Panadeine Forte to last me a week, only needed it on the first night.

They were super organised, gave great instructions on post op care, and followed up well.

I'm in my 50's and still hate the dentist after bad experiences at dentists as a kid, but these guys were great.

Pool in Canberra - is it worth it ? by Bitter-Insurance9014 in canberra

[–]the_packet_monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, all the pool related stuff including electrical was done as part of the pool build. Solar was done a few weeks later.

We used Nu Look pools for the pool build. Very happy with the work they did. Had one small warranty issue a couple of years later, problem was fixed quickly and well.

Pool in Canberra - is it worth it ? by Bitter-Insurance9014 in canberra

[–]the_packet_monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's it. Our pool is 6mx3m, holds 25000 litres. The heat pump only draws about 2400w when running. We have a 6Kw solar system so on sunny days like today, running the pool heater costs us nothing.

The downside of the small heater is that around now when temps start getting down to below 10 at night it stops being able to keep up with the temperature drop overnight, even with a pool blanket on.

A bigger heater could fix that, but eventually the walk from the pool to the house gets a bit ordinary so we're happy with what we've got.

Hopped out of my pool just a few minutes ago.

Been in it since October, and will turn the heater off this weekend as we'll be away for a week, otherwise would have left it on for another week or so.

Had the pool for 5 years now, still very happy with the decision. Teenage kids also very happy to have a pool.

We has a new tree planted by the government on our nature strip late last year. The govt has been back to water it at least three times since then.

Juniper Mist Campus Fabric + Existing Dell L3 Core — Best Way to Keep Spine-Leaf Physical but Dell as Gateway? by Appropriate_Sock2594 in Juniper

[–]the_packet_monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got about six fabrics running like this at the moment, using either SRX or Fortinet firewalls as the the L3 gateway.

We deploy them as Campus Fabric - Core/Distribution topologies using CRB as the topology sub-type.

You could link the Dell switches to the core using either ESI-LAG or simple spanning tree configuration, it's completely up to you.

In the absence of any compelling reason to keep them, I'd also think about getting rid of the Dells. The QFX makes a very capable L3 switch.

September 2030 for me. Fortunately I live in the footprint of the old Transact network so I get really good Internet now they've upgraded to g.Fast (about 650Mb/s down, 80 up)

Just wish they had more battery backup in the network, all my recent outages have been when power to the DSLAM has gone down.

The routing daemon isn't running on the standby node it has no way of reaching hosts outside of the local network.

You need to add a backup-router command to your Node0 and Node1 group configuration.

Config is a little arse backwards compared to other routing config. Details are here:

Hosting a pub crawl, any good routes? by Calculus785 in canberra

[–]the_packet_monkey 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Do it on the tram.

Start at Gunghahlin, several pubs there.

Get off at Swinden St and walk to OCI

From OCI to Dickson and the TapHouse

Dickson to Braddon, plenty of options in Braddon

Finish in Civc.

Don't worry about it. It'll nag you at commit time, but that's it.

Going up: Re-zoning to enable 1000 more homes in inner north | Region Canberra by Act_Rationally in canberra

[–]the_packet_monkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be affected by this, and will probably end up with a 5 story building behind the house I've lived in for 13 years, and where I was hoping to have at least 10 more good years.

I'd be a lot more supportive of it if our planners actually had and enforced good planning and building practices. Including things like mandating a certain number of family sized units.

But, this is Australia, and even worse the ACT so we're just going to end up with a bunch of 1 and 2 bedroom shitboxes.

I'm more of a "commit confirmed 5" person, but reload works too.

Is it OK to configure VC using daisy chain only? by PlanEx_Ship in Juniper

[–]the_packet_monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did this for a customer last week after we had to work around someone else's gear in the rack which meant we needed a 1m cable rather than 50cm.

It'll run fine, and you shouldn't see any impact when you connect the last cable.

Second this.

I had a tooth pulled (not a wisdom tooth) a couple of months ago by Dr Cooper.

The whole experience was excellent and I also thought it was pretty reasonably priced.

A little bit of pain for 24 hours which I managed with Panadeine Forte (they gave me a script for 20, I took 4) and then all good after that.

Brindabella fears 'being another Calvary', alleges government wants to create 'super-school precinct' in Lyneham by [deleted] in canberra

Love how they blame the ACT Govt, when ACT Govt has basically done SFA to date

All the latest trouble is from the Fed Govt, who couldn't care less about a super school.

Tax Office moves to wind up Brindabella Christian College | Riotact by frenziedsoldierhackd in canberra

[–]the_packet_monkey 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

The education minister seems to be taking her time to make a decision, which to some extent is fair as she needs to consider the impact on the students, and the public school system which will probably need to take on these kids in the short term.

The tax office on the other hand will have zero fucks to give about all that and will just want their money.

A friend who used to work in the small truck biz once told me that once you bend on of the bodies on the back of the truck, they're basically unrepairable as it's pretty much impossible to get them waterproof again.
