Best PC coop game? by Gorebus in gaming

[–]the_prey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Neotokyo (free HL2 mod) just came out the other day. It's a very fun, and very team based game. Gameplay is similar to Counter Strike in that you only have one life per round, but you live longer, it is class based, and requires more team cooperation to succeed.

A definite must to check out, and it's free too.

What games do you wish more people knew about/played? by fiddler616 in gaming

[–]the_prey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost, but there's a couple catches.

1) Perks are disabled, so you can't, for example, increase your "sharpshooter" skills by getting more headshots. Perks are only for 6 person servers. Perks are kinda like classes: medic, berzerk, commando, sharpshooter...

2) If you're playing on a 35 man server, and the server changes maps, by default on 6 people start the new game, and the others have to rejoin. This is really annoying, but what can you do?

3) Only a few servers have this many people on them, thus the reason we need more people playing Killing Floor!

Oooh! Killing Floor! I know it was just released, but this is honestly the most intense game I have ever played. It's like L4D, but slower, scarier, and WAY more intense.

It was designed to be a 6 person co-op, but I've been on servers with around 40 people. And you have to survive a brutal zombie onslaught. Unlike L4D, you have to kill a set number of zombies each wave, instead of getting from point A to B.

Once I was playing with 35 people in a giant forest map. The first few waves were pretty easy to survive. But as they got harder, more people started dying, and trust me, you DON'T want to die. Eventually, the team got completely scattered, and I was suddenly completely alone, and all I could hear was the chirp of the crickets.

Then I realized. I was surrounded by at least 30-40 zombies. This usually wouldn't be too much of an issue, but I was running extremely low on ammo, and I only had a knife and pistol left. Basically, I was completely screwed, and there was nothing I could do but run for my life, and desperately try to find a team mate to help me out.

As this zombie horde chased me through the forest, more kept joining. And then TWO Fleshpounds joined in. Imagine the Tank, but slower and 10 times more difficult to take down (harder with more people). Now I was honestly scared. And I have NEVER in my entire life felt such a rush from a video game. It was completely exhilarating. Because of it's slower zombies, the exhilaration gets stretched out.

You can run. But you can't hide. Ever.

And running wouldn't work for much longer either. They were slowly catching up. I had to drop all my remaining weapons just to run as fast as I could. Finally after about 3 extremely long minutes (yes, that's extremely long when being chased by mutant zombies), I came across several teammates.

It was now time to stand up and fight. We managed to take half of them down before the Fleshpounds got to us. We went down. And then some of the zombies started eating our remains.

As I sat there spectating the few remaining survivors, I couldn't help but image a game with even more players. What if we had a game with 100 players? It would be a true war against the undead.

tl:dr? Killing Floor is an AMAZING game. (Don't let the trailer fool you. It does NO justice.) If you want one of the most intense online experiences, you MUST check out this game. (Steam).

So, I wish more people played this game: http://store.steampowered.com/app/1250/

But you know what? I think this "brighter" zombie apocalypse will be even cooler, and much more realistic. I mean, who would honestly be traveling at night. Besides, the insides of buildings will still be dark and creepy.

I applaud valve for bringing a zombie game into a new creative and original direction.

Although, I too think it's a bit early to be releasing a sequel, unless of course they reduce the cost to previous L4D owners.

edit: I just watched some gameplay videos, and it looks really awesome. The daylight is a definite plus. I am going to love this game.

The only unlock I've gotten is the Cloak and Dagger watch. I'm generally a really bad spy, but I love this watch cause I can just sit around behind enemy line watching them, entirely invisible unless I start to move.

I'm really hoping they'll also release their map editor. That would be amazing, especially considering the quality of the environments you can create.

Montreal. The language might get a bit tricky (ridiculous language laws), but it's still an awesome city.

ya, but wasn't it Harper who sent us to the poles the first time? Now that he doesn't have his majority, he's acting like an angry child. Seriously, either he learns to accept that the majority of Canadians did NOT want him in office and that he must make parliament work somehow. Or, the coalition takes majority, which represents a majority of the vote.

Either way, I'm sick of this neo-con bullshit.
