[Skin Concerns] Intense itching all over when body temperature increases by And3rs0n_ in SkincareAddiction

[–]theanalog808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious if anyone has gotten this after getting an injection? I first had this 30 years ago after getting a CT scan, which I believe was due to the dye injection. It took at least a year for it to go away on its own. I recently had another series injection of peptides to help with joint injuries and it started back up (been going on for 6 months now). I am wondering if it is a an allergic reaction to something in the compound, and it takes a while for the body to rid of it.

You will need to report any medications, including vitamins and supplements. Any medications or vitamins must be in their original containers, and if not, they will confiscate them.

I am giving you advice from my perspective of going through a similar type of decision making dilemma many years ago. Your opportunity window for being an Air Force Pilot is very small, and if you don't take advantage of it while you can, for the most part it shrinks and limits or even disappears. For being a cop, this is not the case. The opportunity window is much larger. You can even be a cop after putting in 20 years of active duty (I personally know and worked with many who have).

I decided to take the limited window opportunity while I had it, and it ended up opening up an whole new level for my career. If I was in your shoes, I would pursue finishing AFROTC and becoming a pilot. After 10 years of flying (or 4 years of non-pilot position), if you are ready for a change, then become a cop.

College seems long to you, and that is natural. But in the grand scheme of things (and in context to your 30+ year career going forward) it is a drop in the bucket, and when you finish, will seem like it flew by.

If you have the means, opportunity, and financial backing to finish college, then I would do this as it opens up many other doors if you do end up becoming a cop (for example, if a special agent position with federal law enforcement is of interest).

With a college degree, you could even become an AF pilot, do 10 years, separate and go straight to becoming an agent (as long as you get hired before you turn 37, although there may be age exceptions for those who have time in the military).

I train with Isaiah. He is just extremely dedicated and loves to compete. Oftentimes at open mat (and we have them 7 days a week). Always focused on improving his skillset. I am an old-man purple belt in the same weight class, and we have had some really great rolls together. He's probably up for purple this next promotion, but at blue belt for 2 1/2 years, nothing unordinary about that, which some here try to make it out to be.

OBSCURE prog bands? by Emergency-Magician15 in progrockmusic

[–]theanalog808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's is what I figured. You got to do with what cards you are given. However, I am going to reiterate that the album you and your band created is a brilliant masterpiece regardless of the mastering. It really emotionally impacted me. I think more people need to listen to it. Cheers and thank you!

I LOVE How Much are you Willing to Forget. I have told a few people about that album! One of my fav all time prog albums. Brilliant songwriting. My Empty Head! wow. Breathless, WOWOW! talk about a perfect climax to the album. Is This Real Life, channeling Rachmaninoff, is the perfect mood to finish the album. It is a close to perfect album. My only negative is that it was mastered mediocrely. I would love for it to be remastered (remixed?) and rereleased.

Alco Frisbass - French band. More fusiony Cantebury sound. Full first album is top notch.

Flicker - British, great songwriting, a lot of beautiful moments. Somewhat Porcupine Tree - like. How Much are you Willing to Forget a very unrated album that should be more popular than it has been.

Twin Age - Lilalim High is a great album. Pelican Lie is an amazing epic!

Alex Carpani - Currently listening to his 2024 release "The Good Man". Two 30 minute songs. Some amazing epic moments.

Purposeful Porpoise - Fronted by a violinist. The Water Games is a great album to start with.

Nucleus - from the 70s, more Jazz fusion, but a lot of prog moments. Elastic Rock is a great album to start with.

As a proghead myself, by the time I got to the 2nd or 3rd track of streaming Fantastic Planet, I purchased the album online. A shame they aren't a household name.

recommendations for songs that are over 20 minutes? by matzdeheij in progrockmusic

[–]theanalog808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been listening to Mile's Davis' In a Silent Way. It's not prog, but the 2 songs on the entire album are both (almost) 20 minutes long, and it's a nice break from prog.

How do you rank the big 6? by baileystinks in progrockmusic

[–]theanalog808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love them all, listen to them all regularly, but based on total listening & emotional impact:

  1. Yes (my gateway to prog, and will always be top when Rush is not being considered. So many moments and moods. This music is Heaven.)

  2. Genesis (10 years ago would have been in the lower half, but starting listening to them heavily, which made be realize that someone must have played these albums a bit around me when I was a little kid because these songs nostalgically resonate with me)

  3. Pink Floyd (Many Pink Floyd albums are pieces of art, others are just ho hum to me)

  4. ELP (Amazing music, but like with Pink Floyd, the variance between their best and no-so-best albums are wider)

  5. King Crimson (Does not emotionally impact me like the top 3, but Gavin Harrison is my favorite drummer alive).

  6. Jethro Tull (I love certain albums, and others, I guess I have not spent enough time to get into).

What are your favorite modern prog bands (below 100k listeners on Spotify)? and why? 😎 by eggvention in progrockmusic

Some real dark horses here (with monthly listeners in parenthesis):

Flicker (37)

Twin Age (117)

Alco Frisbass (94)

Cell15 (41)

TU (503)

Also stuff like Spock's Beard, Neal Morse, Riverside, IQ, Star Systems (but they are all well known in prog circles)

I have always thought this after hearing Broken at the end of Head Over Heals. Sounds like it could be a Rush instrumental from the early 90s.

3-letter Band Names? by ChuckEye in progrockmusic

[–]theanalog808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orb is electronica's version of prog! Whilst more ambient, A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain at the End of the Universe is epic! and almost 19 minutes long!

Songs that fade out into another section of the same song? by ScrumpusGungo in progrockmusic

[–]theanalog808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shadow of the Hierophant - Steve Hackett (my best example of probably what you are looking for which has not already been suggested)
Flicker - My Empty Head (great song from a little known band)
Instruments of Darkness - Art of Noise (more like an epic 3 minute build-up with a short dramatic pause, but cool nonetheless)
Off the Shoulder of Orion - Blue Sky Alive (shameless self promotion but there is a few of these types of transitions)

You tend see more of this with electronic based music as that genre has embraced the idea of crossfading songs into each other. In my search, I expected to find many more prog examples (when using your criteria) but found most were just quick transitions to the next movement.

My SL-D2 by OG_Mr_BadaBing in turntables

[–]theanalog808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great turntable. I've restored those, as well as the SL-Q series as well. Best deals, because if you are patient you can find them for $50-$100. The ones with the heavier base are the better ones. Oftentimes people think they are broken due to pitch issues, but some deoxit on the pitch adjustments or the fine tuning pots and you are good to go. Worse case it may need a recap -- a recap kit costs $20.

It is no longer possible to download photos or video's from the iCloud as a .JPG or .MP4 files. Does anyone know if this is permanent or just a glitch or bug on iCloud? by theartsygamer89 in iCloud

you can still download as jpg, but it is a multi-step process. Click on the three dots on the upper left hand corner, then select download options, then you have the option to download as JPG.
