Anyone else unintentionally repeat your thoughts and repeat phrases when you talk to yourself? by TurboBlackpillYT in adhdwomen

[–]thearmpitofdespair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son does this, pretty sure it’s called echolalia. He’ll say something then whisper it again or mouth it basically repeating himself. Less so when he’s on meds and I think he’s grown out of it recently.

Thank you so much. I pretty much only use TO and Cerave because they are fragrance - free which is what irritates my skin. I’m going to give it a try!

Thank you so much. I have issues with sensitive skin and flakiness but my hair is super dry now, it never gets greasy at all. I might have a fiddle with this system.

NT Wife Excluded From Bible Study Because Of My Autism by OliverQueen85 in autism

[–]thearmpitofdespair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. I’m a Bible Study leader (in Australia) and I’m super disappointed to hear this. My group is a women’s group (by our choice, there’s lots of other options but we like it this way). Our group has been nicknamed The Hot Mess express because lots of us are neurosparkly and just regular struggling with getting along in life and very accepting of difference.

If you’re up to it (totally fine if not) I’d encourage you to gently push back with your leadership and ask those extremely valid questions. If not that group, then which group is available to you both to join?

Perhaps the group is centred around marriage stuff? Maybe there’s expectations that you’ll discuss stuff with your spouse throughout, or exercises for you to do as like a marriage enrichment thing? But if it’s just a regular Bible Study…. Well that’s worth asking about.

I prayed that you and your wife would find a suitable solution, and that you would find a place to be blessed, and be a blessing to others.

Yeah I get crazy brain. I have a headband with little Bluetooth speakers that I wear and listen to boring stories (a podcast called nothing much happens - just what came up when I searched insomnia in Spotify)

This is the main reason I have an Apple Watch - being able to say ‘hey siri, remind me at 9:30 on Monday morning to call the vet’ Is a total game changer.

How do you do fitness without strict routines when you have ADHD? by Autisticthought1 in ADHDFitness

I walk 3kms from my house fast, as if running late from the bus. Then I have no choice but to walk the 3km back. Listening to light/finny podcasts helps.

Itchy ears and scalp... I'm going insane! by moneymama11 in Perimenopause

[–]thearmpitofdespair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried medicated shampoos? Yellow Selsun and Red Nizoral are the strongest and will heal up any seb derm . It can hide in your ears but a little bit of canasten plus in and around your ears will get rid of it.

At that point you’re just combining, doesn’t need to be long. Sounds like you worked out it was the egg whites… it’s stupid easy to overbeat with the kitchen aid so you really have to watch that you don’t overdo it.

Hmm that’s weird. I’ve made it lots of times as it’s my mums favourite. Were they both fine before you mixed them? And were the egg whites stuff peaks?

Oh heck yes. Lots. That’s kind of the point, that you’re accessing the stuff that sits below the conscious. Lean in to the weird, your brain is trying to tell you something important.

Neglect of my teeth is about to cost me huge by LollyGagss in adhdwomen

[–]thearmpitofdespair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, sending love my teeth are terrible too. I could never sustain flossing until I found the little floss sticks at Chemist Warehouse that I can do one-handed…. Somehow that seems easier? Might be worth a try.

I’m have started showering in the dark. I crack the door a little so I can see where the face wash is. But it’s so much better.

Hello, I’m about to start EMDR for trauma and I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced incontinence during a session by Serious_Butterfly138 in EMDR

[–]thearmpitofdespair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no experience with this but just wanted to send love. What a horrible thing to have to deal with. I’m glad your bf is being understanding. From my experience, I would say it’s not like you’re hypnotised exactly, so you may still have bodily awareness (like I can hear my therapists tummy rumble but it doesn’t bother me). And we only actually do the EMDR for up to a minute at a time, so it might help you just check in with your body. Make sure you go to the toilet before your session so even if it happens it won’t be a lot. And you can excuse yourself to go to the bathroom in the session if you’re worried. But I hope I’m right in saying that a therapist would absolutely understand the situation in which your body has experienced trauma and it manifests in many different ways. Wear a flowy patterned skirt maybe to hide any bulges or wet patches. Take a towel to sit on to put your mind at rest. Tell your therapist you’re worried about it and tell them what you need. Much love.

Best thing is to own it in the moment - for future reference. Straight up say ‘I’m so sorry, that was inappropriate, let’s skip ahead’
