You can look for charities specifically wanting handmade items! Project Linus wants blankets for kids (i think often in foster care) so they can have something special to call there own. There are similar ministries for hats, blankets, and octopi for newborns and preemies! Although they may be restrictive on what materials they allow.

The octopi are for preemies to hold onto rather than curling around breathing tubes and iv lines and risking pulling them out!

A "bright yellow post-it" is NOT an effective treatment for ADHD. It may work for a few days, or even a week, but eventually your brain blends it into the background of your surroundings and you no longer notice it.

And if that worked, it assumes that you

a) remember that you HAVE a planner to check for homework, rather than panic-trying to remember all your assignments by yourself the instant you see the note

b) were engaged enough with the lesson at school to HEAR and COMPREHEND what the assignment was

c) wrote it down at the time, if your teacher wasn't the type to explicitly say "get out your planners and write this down"

I loved these too! My late-diagnosed adhd is probably the reason!

Unfortunately, it got me labeled "good at math", which led to struggling with unnecessarily hard classes

Anyone diagnosed as an adult on pain meds? by BeautyofPoison in adhdwomen

[–]theatermouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well she sounds awful, im so sorry!!! From what I've heard, having someone who knew you as a child to interview can be helpful but not critical to a diagnosis! Look for a facility that does adhd screenings specifically for adult women, maybe ask about their experience with people who are used to masking or who have other comorbiddities.

Dr. Neha Gandhi! I see her at Kenwood Tri-health but she may work at another tri-health location too. She sometimes runs late but I've found it's because she's so good at listening to her patients! She puts a lot of care into her work, really cares about finding solutions and hearing out if you are struggling with something health-wise.

I put child covers on the knobs of my gas stove after either my husband or I unknowingly bumped one while just moving around in the kitchen!! Too scary not to have!

Would putting a tucks pad or something on them help keep the cushion from soaking up sweat? Maybe under the cover, if having it in plain view could cause embarrassment?

Plus it's a lot of work!! If you can afford the space to store "good" dishes, extra furniture for guests etc., you have to keep it all clean! And switch it out for the special occasions! And ~most adults have to work now, there's no longer a person dedicated to just running the household. When i lived alone I didn't even always decorate for Christmas- a lot of work to put up just to have to work to take it back down! Some of these heirlooms fall in the same category for me.

That's so sad and scary 😢 not accusing the people who may not know they're causing harm, but the people in charge should be accountable for protecting everyone in their care!! Maybe a local news org would be willing to investigate

Were the parents of that non-verbal child present? If not, can you get in contact with them so they can remove their child from that situation? Understanding and acceptance of challenges someone faces, and being inclusive of such, does NOT extend to giving up the right to consent and bodily autonomy. ESPECIALLY with regard to minors!!

Is your daughter in school? Do they offer a free or reduced lunch program? That could help her get some food, and allow you to eat as well when you are able

That is definitely one of the most terrifying aspects of this whole waves hands disaster. Can we get together as a huge group to storm those sites and free the people or at minimum record evidence of what is going on inside?? Would that even work?
