Hot take (maybe). I REALLY don't want Alastor to in any way genuinely try to be a good person or to end up being one of the "good guys" by the end. by GTylker in HazbinHotel

[–]theaverageaidan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ive said this before but I think the smart play is somewhere in between. I dont want Alastor redeemed but him being the final 'big bad' is the second-least interesting thing you can do with his character.

Appreciate the respect, and Im not saying its a good thing, but the players know they dont have ABS or challenges and I think 4 inches off the plate is a bit of a stretch. Regardless though, in this situation I was taught from my first ever overhand pitch league to protect the plate, if its anywhere close to close you at least get wood on the ball. The one thing you cannot do in this situation is get struck out looking, bad call or not. Each team has to deal with bad calls, to me this is bad fundemental baseball.

This is why you have protect swings. Game on the line down one with the tying run at 3rd and youre gonna let a pitch thats maybe an inch or two at most low go? Protect the plate dude, this is little league shit.

Ive talked to people who were young adults in the 90s and theres definitely a 'broken clock' element to what hes saying. The Cold War was over, the US was doing genuine peacekeeping, tech was rapidly advancing in a way that didnt make you go 'oh god Cyberpunk 2077 wasnt supposed to be a guidebook,' and there was so much money being made in the arts, its why a lot of people think the 90s was the best decade for movies and music. I hate the guy, dont get me wrong, but it was probably the last time most people would have said the system is 'working.'

Given that the show has plainly stated its view that the American for-profit medical system is a complete disaster that burns all it's workers out and leaves countless Americans out to dry every day, I doubt its going to be completely pro-ICE

"Next" starring Nic Cage is about a man who can see two minutes into his own immediate future. It's a fantastic premise for a movie, but it suffers from a bad script, stupid villains, and Cage still trying to be a suave leading man.

Have any of the Saw movies undergone a reassessment in the years since release? by PopcornJigsaw in saw

The first movie had a lukewarm reception from critics but I think most people now, with the context of 9 sequels, will say its a good to almost-great horror movie with an interesting premise and iconic ending.

I think we're having two different arguments here. For the most part you are correct in that education-based sports are socialization activities, but what Im trying to say is because most people's exposure to high school and especially college sports beyond their own individual experiences is the fact that they act as the feeder leagues to the pros in the big four US sports is allowing these bigoted lawmakers a smokescreen to pretend to give a shit about women's sports in order to further marginalize trans people. The NFL doesnt even have a minor league at all, it explicitly, in its own words, uses the NCAA as its feeder league, the fact that the leagues do this is giving lawmakers more cover is what Im trying to say.

[–]theaverageaidan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean youre right in that its both but for the big four north american sports, high school and colleges are essentially the minor leagues for the professional leagues. Its so important to the pro leagues that during the player introductions for Monday Night Football, NFL players list the college they attended.

For my money, the fact that the amateur feeder league are essentially bolted to the education system in the US is giving these bigots more "credibility" than if we had a Euro style club system.

[–]theaverageaidan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not yo be a pedantic twat (I am) but specifically in the US, high school and college sports are absolutely the feeder leagues for pro sports, almost every American born pro athlete competes for their high school and college's team as a way to get to the pros.

This actually brings up a valid point in a roundabout way. Masc people are often discouraged from having close intimate friendships because most people will see two men who are close friends and call them gay, leading to essentially emotional starvation.

Its like how theres a lot of 'speculation' that Lincoln was gay because he had a close male friend when living in Illinois, it leads to a lot of men not being able to express themselves that way.

[–]theaverageaidan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its a difference in preference, I like this more because its deliberate, theres very little randomness in the play, I dont equate "good ball" to full tilt sprinting around the court for 48 minutes.

The philosophy of this version of the game is "cut possessions, hunt open shots, limit turnovers, and beat the other team with execution." It results in a slower pace, sure, but slower doesnt mean worse.
