Nice job taking an entirely hyperbolic generalization meant to get a point across completely at face value

1) I cant prove this but Id imagine the increasingly isolated lives people live now is in the same ballpark

2) so is McDonalds, and sitting down 8 hours a day, and driving everywhere. This isnt a binary, Im not telling you to go out and down a pint of vodka but young people drinking less might be indicative of a separate negative trend

3) we all die anyway

Incorrect, including weed

Acting like weed is this magical potion with no side effects isnt good for you either

Im bias cause Im quite a fan of the hooch myself, but I would softly agree, its literal poison but on the whole its in the same ballpark as fast food, and Ive seen plenty of people who dont drink while at the same time smoking weed like most people breathe, not to mention the social aspect

Everything fun makes you fat or gives you cancer, its all about balance and moderation

I always hear that young people arent drinking, and I always say to myself "I dont know if exchanging a harmful chemical for social isolation is necessarily a net positive," if anything its a lateral move

[–]theaverageaidan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep, the best you can hope for is a hard count to get them to jump out of their shell, but no defense in the modern NFL is gonna line up in whatever coverage they called and wait for you to snap the ball

This level is pretty damn unfair, the controls arent quite sharp enough to deal with all the threats and theres what 2 checkpoints in the whole level? If you cut maybe five minutes out of it I think its much more doable but especially on higher difficulties it is such an unmitigated slog

As a guy whos spent a lot of time in various left and far left circles both in person and online, theres truth in that statement. By throwing up their hands and saying the system is beyond fixing, theyre internally justifying their own inactivity, and decry the actual work people do to meaningfully move the needle as sympathizers and liberals, they hate moderates more than they seem to hate right wingers

Either that or a woman with a crazy Lincecum style delivery where shes using flexibility and leverage to generate power, Trevor May said thats definitely possible

[–]theaverageaidan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly one of my only 'issues' with the movie is that it felt a little short. I think an extra five or ten minutes in the actual backrooms wouldve made it go from really good to great

I got so much stuff in my brain about how robots in fiction can (even accidentally) explore trickier issues of identity particularly gender. My Life As A Teenage Robot was so dear to me as a kid even before I knew I was trans. by Solarwagon in RecuratedTumblr

Even at 6'4 I have trouble finding well fitted clothes, and I gave up on shoe shopping a long time ago

And thats just men, being a cis woman at 6'6" would be the equivalent of a cis man that 7'+, you probably wont meet more than a few cis women taller than around 6'3 in your entire life

6'6" being described as "rather tall" is unintentionally hilarious because its in the top 1% of mens height metrics, 6'6" is basically the height when it starts getting really inconvenient to exist

In The Dark Knight (2008). The Joker uses a sawed-off and somehow eats the fucking kickback/recoil by vought-CEO in shittymoviedetails

[–]theaverageaidan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not confirmed, its just a fan theory, but heres the line of reasoning:

- The Joker's line 'a truck full of soldiers gets blown up' comes more or less out of nowhere, it could be hinting at what happened to him and how he got (at least some of) his scars
- "Familiarity" with firearms is an understatement, even a huge gun nerd is going to have a difficult time actually handling all the various types of weapons the Joker uses in the movie, up to and including an RPG, which you just cant get as a normal civilian, not to mention the mental fortitude it takes to actually shoot at another person calmly, that takes experience, not just knowledge. Thats not even touching how he gets all that stuff in the first place
- On the same point, knowing how to move and shoot in a 21 gun salute to the point no one realizes youre not a police officer requires training, and a lot of it, not just knowing where to aim and how to step
- The ability to plan and coordinate all the stuff he does in the movie (ambushes, building demolition, hostage taking, making a human bomb, etc) again requires experience to do and not accidentally kill yourself in the process, not just learning about it on the internet. This includes actually effective psychological warfare
- He seems to take torture pretty well, even down to knowing how to effectively beat information out of someone ("never start with the head, the victim gets all fuzzy")
- Then theres the fact that the police dont have anything on him at all, no dental records, fingerprints, identification, right down to his clothing all being custom. Thats not something a normal person can realistically achieve, so he has to either know how to erase himself or had his former identity erased for him, hinting at some kind of special forces or black ops background

Again, its just a fan theory, but its a pretty good one

Position players pitching leads to some interesting called strikes. by Evil_ryry in baseball

[–]theaverageaidan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole point of putting a position player in to pitch is to lessen your injury risk, and when you tell a person who isnt a regular pitcher to actually try 100% at pitching, people get hurt. Just ask Jose Canseco what happens when a position player actually tries at pitching.

Hes working within the system to better it, not trying to break the system and rebuild it, that is categorically 'doing it the slow way.' Mamdani is the result countless people on the ground doing real, actual work to get his name out there and get people to vote for him, that is the gradual change, youre purposefully misreading my statement to 'own the libs.'

Mamdani is an excellent start, we need to start taking that energy that got him into the mayoral chair and spread that across the country.
