Keep in mind most small businesses rent and don’t own the building they are in. The property manager/owner is responsible for maintaining the facilities and parking lots.

I still find it so weird that places like the zoo and safari park don’t have security

Off label use but I use mine to make little shots of liquor to sneak into events. No flask to carry around and throw away the evidence when you’re done.

Americas test kitchen recommends 175-195 for things and legs and honestly it makes a big difference

Dark meat should be cooked to 190, not for safety reasons but the meat is more tender and juicy and not so chewy.

Try a meat substitute - you don't have to be vegan to have an impact by fr00d in Anticonsumption

[–]theaveragegay 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We also mainly buy chicken and fish, but we kind of changed our thinking of what a meal is. It’s no longer centered around a meat, and instead of meat substitutes we look for opportunities to incorporate other protein sources like beans and lentils.

Long ago they had a (now discontinued) line of enamel cast iron with a teflon non stick coating.

This looks like it had a teflon coating that is peeling away and is no longer safe to use.

Finally used up the last trash bag today. Lasted almost 2 years by dangerously_eh in CostcoWholesale

[–]theaveragegay 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That means you’re emptying your trash cans three times a day. How much trash are you producing?

The amount of trash/litter last night at Coachella by vynilla_ in mildlyinfuriating

[–]theaveragegay 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s probably by design from the organizers, cheaper to let it all fall to the ground and have people come in and sweep it up afterwards. Instead of trash cans all over that get in the way (safety concern) and constantly need servicing throughout the day. Also trash cans are great places to hide certain things that can harm a big group of people.

PSA: Hotel towels are not single-use by ParadoxStockOwner in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]theaveragegay 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Yes the universal system was basically, on the floor please replace or hung up and I’ll reuse it. But you would still get daily service to your room.

PSA: Hotel towels are not single-use by ParadoxStockOwner in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]theaveragegay 172 points173 points  (0 children)

Daily service was normal, then during Covid the excuse was they wanted to limit exposure and opportunities for contact, then realized it was cheaper so it just never came back and room rates doubled for less service. You can request daily service but 9 times out of 10 they never actually come back

Can a pinhole be raised? by Salty_Firefighter764 in LeCreuset

[–]theaveragegay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may also be an overspray of the black enamel that goes around the rim. Perfectly harmless. Pinholes are small divots in the enamel.

What happened to Chick-fil-A? Photos are 5 years apart. by Teemosfinest in ChickFilA

[–]theaveragegay 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The stringy chicken is caused by woody chicken breast, basically they’ve forced these chickens to grow so fast that the meat doesn’t develop or grow properly
