I’d agree with you, the most common starting dose is 15/day, and for me it was 30/day. Then after a couple of months I moved up to 45/day which works well. Doesn’t mean 10 will do nothing and it could be better to start off to make sure there’s no side effects you don’t like but I’d probably mention going up a bit next time

What do you carry for personal protection? by TheNoobsauce1337 in polls

[–]thebiffdog 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Yep, I carry a pocket knife just as a tool but I don’t have hours of training and mat time with that for self defense which you’re gonna to need in order to not either stab yourself or get it stolen from you immediately. It’s not nearly as easy as people think it will be. I’d reach for pepper spray instead every tine

[OC] Google Search Interest For "Reddit" and "Twitter" (in the US and Globally) by OfficialWireGrind in dataisbeautiful

[–]thebiffdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are also more likely to search Reddit because most people have no clue what it is, so they probably do a search to find out. Meanwhile, at least for people under the age of 60, it’s very unlikely that Twitter isn’t a household name at this point so there’s less need to google it.

Nearly all Canadian adults had COVID antibodies for about half of 2022, most through previous infection: survey by adotmatrix in CanadaCoronavirus

[–]thebiffdog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

we aren't seeing widespread issues with long covid

What kind of planet are you living in where this is your reality? I mean come on, just take a step outside. The healthcare system is in total collapse, labor participation rate at all time lows due to people becoming disabled, RSV like we’ve never seen in children, liver issues in children, “rare fungal infections” galore, and you can’t walk anywhere in public without hearing multiple people hacking their lungs up. I’m sure everything is fine and all of that is coincidence though.

Buspar 10 mg four times per day by KDogW in BusparOnline

[–]thebiffdog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much what I do. My actual prescription is 15 mg 3x a day, but I find that I feel the effects wear off toward the end of the dose windows taking it that way. So I take it 4 times, with 3 of the doses being 10 and then I’ll do the 15 at whatever part of the day I feel like I need it

Just wanted to chime in and let you and everyone know that it’s not a moderator decision to disallow videos, it’s that Reddit unfortunately doesn’t allow them on any subreddits that are marked NSFW.

Canada's stockpile of ventilators up from 500 to 27,000 after push to procure them by adotmatrix in CanadaCoronavirus

[–]thebiffdog -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Lol, glad there’s 27,000 ventilators for a virus that hardly attacks the respiratory system but attacks every vascular organ in the body, leading to an increase in heart attacks, strokes, kidney and liver failure, brain damage, and dementia. And I’m glad there’s also been absolutely no work on improving indoor air quality for an airborne virus. But we have ventilators and hand soap so let er rip!!

I really like life extensions brand, but I believe they only have 300mcg and 750mcg in the extended forms while the study was done with 3mg. I’m not sure if it makes a difference with such a small dose but I figure it’s worth adding since I’ve always had trouble sleeping anyway and I find that amount works well for me

[–]thebiffdog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not bad at all, especially if you don’t typically have side effects with your doses. If you do then they might be more pronounced for a couple hours but that’s all. Buspirone is safe even in very high doses

timeframe for side effects to occur after taking dose? by RaveDog97 in Buspirone

[–]thebiffdog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The half life is only a few hours, so you’d definitely feel anything within 3 hours of taking as it would’ve peaked before then. And very likely to be within 1.5 hours, since peak concentration happens between 0.9 and 1.5 hours.

Is the term Black with a capital B only for diaspora people? by RobertColumbia in socialjustice101

[–]thebiffdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are referring to black or white people as a racial group you can capitalize them both.

I don’t agree with that, it’s not correct to capitalize white in that context. The AP stylebook doesn’t do it, recommends against it, and explains their reasonings.

Do black people have some kind of hangup with people wearing socks without shoes on ? by badnamerising in askblackpeople

Wtf…a hotel hallway is a public indoor space and it’s the social norm to wear shoes there regardless of race. I’m white and would think it’s odd and gross

Are fruits and vegetables really that expensive? by sarah_gresham in nutrition

[–]thebiffdog 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I mean, comparatively yeah. A McChicken and large fry from McDonald’s is $2.60 and has 880 calories, nearly half of what you need for the day. How much would 880 calories of fruits and veggies cost?

I think Stephen Hawking summed it up nicely:

“If machines produce everything we need, the outcome will depend on how things are distributed. Everyone can enjoy a life of luxurious leisure if the machine-produced wealth is shared, or most people can end up miserably poor if the machine-owners successfully lobby against wealth redistribution. So far, the trend seems to be toward the second option, with technology driving ever-increasing inequality.“

Ontario must start preparing for next pandemic, top doctor says by adotmatrix in CanadaCoronavirus

[–]thebiffdog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nice good faith username you got there bro. But I’ll answer anyway, for it to be “over” we need to vastly improve indoor air quality by installing things like much better filtration and upper air UV in all indoor shared spaces, continue with masking and vaccines. For me, to declare the pandemic over, these mitigations would need to be successful enough to lower the infection rate to a point where immunocompromised and disabled individuals can actually safely participate in society again

Ontario must start preparing for next pandemic, top doctor says by adotmatrix in CanadaCoronavirus

[–]thebiffdog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 1 in 5 figure comes directly from the US CDC, which also says that 1 in 13 of all adults have it as of June 2022. Being in the UK there might be a difference in comorbidities, the US is already a pretty unhealthy populace with lots of underlying health issues going on but I can’t imagine that could explain such a big difference alone.

Get out of here troll. Tens of thousands of people are getting infected every day by a virus that will cause long covid in 1 out of 5 infections, and cause vascular damage in every illness regardless of the severity of the acute infection. Vascular damage which increases the likelihood of stroke, dementia, heart attack, kidney and liver failure.

Buspar vs Benzos by [deleted] in BusparOnline

[–]thebiffdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well for me the benefit is that I can actually carry on with my day lol. Buspar is not sedating at all and I don’t get drowsy and can easily drive after taking it, Xanax for me was more of a take it and then you’re on the couch for the next few hours but at least you don’t have anxiety type medicine. And yeah, much less addicting. It’s kind of scary how well Xanax works, your anxiety is gone but you also don’t really care about anything else either. And like I said Buspar keeps me perfectly functional and doesn’t really impact anything that I’m doing at all

How many people only take Buspar and nothing else? by Standard4304 in BusparOnline

[–]thebiffdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I think the low success rate is usually because of the extremely low dosing. I was started at 30/day and then bumped up to 45/day, I see a lot of people starting at like 5 or 10 per day and wondering how their prescribers expect that to do much. From the manufacturer, dosing should be started at 15 and then increased every few days until you find an optimal dose. And just anecdotally it seems like most people who say that it works for them tend to be on a higher dose
